I start thinking about how it works, not really, but instead of justing racking my brain for awhile. I will use my resources to my advantage. How exactly does it work and what is the stock teeth and I basically want to accellerate god awfully fast maybe with a topspeed of 170-175. What do you guys recommend.

How it works;
you can change the gearing(teeth) to increase accel/decrease top speed or increase top speed/decrease accel. You can't have both. Changes to the front sproket are more significant than changes to the rear sproket.

How to get max accel and keep a top speed of 170-175mph. I don't know, but I'm sure somebody else will have a recommendation.

If you drop a tooth on the front (16), or go up 2 on the rear (42), you'll drop your top speed to about 179 mph (given the correct conditions). If you change both your ideal top speed will be 170 mph. You'll also want to correct your Speedo.

To 16 front or 43 rear (preferred) will get you great accel and top speed in your range. Easy mod and keep stock chain.

ok, that I understand now but where is the cheapest place to get them.

16/42 is what your looking for. Thats -1 on the front and +2 on the rear. It will fit with the stock chain. Hold on, 'cause that baby will run like a raped ape. With that gearing and a TRE, top speed should be right at 175

Bought my steel 16T/42T setup from <a href="http://www.afamusa.com">AFAM<a>. Good quality product.

Heck man there are people on this board that sell sprockets. The front are half the price of the rear. Just get ready for a fight to get the damn front off

Make sure you locktite (red) and torque everything when going back together. You can find all the info you need in the shop manual sticky post. Pay special attention to the speed sensor rotor bolt, the most likely to come loose. Oh, ya....watch overtightening the side case scews, they snap very easy....

By the way what is the easiest way to remove the old sprockets and would anybody be willing to purchase them...They have about 5500 miles on them and in great shape.

No shid man tell me about it...just got my damn torque wrench set it to 10 lbs and im justa twistin away with no click then snap and im like wtf so i had to go by a screw removal kit...did you order another bolt to replace the broken one if so from where and how much?

WOW, just wondering if it would be safer to just buy some bolts from ace hardware or something...better than trying to extract a broken one later.

Check out http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/html/main.shtml  They're pretty decent for sprocket prices.

What TruWrecks said... Sprocket Specialties (ask for Brian Lewis) are simply great. Ordered a 42t rear sprocket a couple weeks ago, and their shipping is super-fast. They made a mistake and sent me a 42t for a Honda (go figure

). Called them and they sent the correct one asap and didn't charge me any shipping because of their mistake. Mighty fine people to do business with. I'm now running 16/42 rather than the 16/40. I should do a lot better at the track now.
