Didn't watch the whole thing. Too long. Typical Libertarianist diatribe (I'm a libertarian so I can say that!) which covers EVERY point they can possibly think of at once.
Rather than engender outrage, it engenders boredom amongst it's readers or viewers. I believe the parts that I saw in this vid and agree with most of what it says, however, the problem is, it's too much. In order for any discussion to occur, any responses are even longer than the original treatise.
This is why Libertarians don't do well at the polls.
People don't want to be involved in politics. It shows at election times when less than half the country goes and votes. Whenever I hear someone complaining, the first question I have for them is, "Did you vote?" If they say no, I'm not interested in hearing about their complaints. The phrase, STFU, applies.
In the "old days" of the formation of the country, the political process was a hobby for many people. It was entertainment in the extreme. It was a time for people to gather and socialize and discuss. Same thing with the news. Same thing with trading or shopping. They were all forms of social entertainment and people really enjoyed voting for "their" candidate. "Stumping" was the order of the day.
Nowadays, people still want to be entertained but they have 700 channels, 500 video games, 50 movies at the cinema to choose from, 1,000 different restaurants to go to, strip clubs, sporting events and a million other things which they find to entertain. Politics is boring. Even religion is starting to get boring an unentertaining. It's little wonder that half the country refuses to vote.
More importantly is the simple fact that voting is nowhere near enough. If you really want to make a difference, you have to get involved in your local political processes. Go to town hall meetings and school board meetings and raise your voice. Write snail mail letters (yes, it works better than e-mail, believe it or not) to your state and district reps. It effing works, people. Voting is not enough. If you agreed with anything in that video, write. Write, write, write. Voting once every four or six or even two years is simply not enough.
