The Ugly bus.

Hi all,

Haven't been around for a while so thought
I'd stick my head in and say "Hi".

Still got my "Crash and Bash" Busa.
It ended up with a GSXR1000 tail a while back.

The plan is it'll come off the road sometime soon
for some more serious mods.

Never was a huge fan of the Busa tail but it was very
practical and worked well for pillions.

Recently I bought a VERY cheap GSX1400 off a mate
who'd had a low speed "off" and damaged the tank
and clocks.

Doesn't have the Busa's top end but has huge "grunt"
and a lazy riding position that's great for both rider
and pillion. So that became my sensible bike and the
Ugly Bus's rear got the chop...

Turned out the GSX1400's clocks weren't repairable,
and they seem pretty fragile in accidents, several 14's
in the wreckers but no clocks/dash.

So I went for an aftermarket KOSO dash.
Really doesn't suit the bike but I don't loose sleep over it.
Fitted my favourite 789 Renthals and I'm a happy boy.
Bike has full Yoshi cyclone / PC111 and one tooth down
on the front so stomps up to 100mph well enough to
keep me entertained.

I still have the B-King.

Fitted some spare "gold" wheel from a later 2010 model,
got a pair of "staintune" cans at half price in a shop clearout,
and did a few little things like rad guard's and a personal plate.

Thanks guys.

I'm sure my stuff won't be to everyone's taste
(If anyone's!) but it suits me and it works well.

I do have a few more projects on the go,
but when I start work on the Busa's next upgrade
I'll post it up again.

I think that's a great lookin bike.
Blends a few decades of style together.

Thanks.

I have a few mates with GSX14's.
Quite popular in the UK and AU.

This one was built by a guy I know (Ben Shaw)
for a customer. They trick up quite nice.

Not cheap at all but there is a "160hp+" conversion available.
I know of two bikes running it.
Not up to Busa numbers but the torque would
put a n/a Busa to shame. They put like a truck !

"GSX1400 160HP PLUS
Overbored to 1620cc using special custom built forged pistons, Yoshimura 4:1 full exhaust system and LA cast iron sleeves, Yoshimura Cams, PTR flowed and fully ported cylinder head, Dynojet power commander, K&N or BMC hi flow air filters, PTR modified air box, PTR modified throttle bodies including all machinework to cylinders and crankcases, Dyno tune custom remap"

I like that dual headlight setup on the last bike. You should run a setup like that on your busa. That headlight cowl thing and those mirrors just don't seem to flow with the rest of your bike IMO. I'd rund a dual headlight setup and maybe billet bar end mirrors to clean that front end up a little

Haven't been keen on the headlight since I got it.
I originally wanted to keep the stock dash and it makes
the headlight sit in the wrong place.

The ones in the pic of Bens 14 are called Doninators,
they are a joke amongst streetfighters as they have
been fitted to anything and everything for years and
are very common and not that great.

I have something else planned.

Have you checked out that Streetfighter website? They got a lot of trick pieces for the busa , especially headlight configurations and cowls. They also sell a steel braided radiator hose and oil cooler kit that would add a nice touch to your naked busa but its pricey

Nice bikes and shop! Seeing that 1400 makes me want a standard again.

I've got a neighbor that has an '06 GSF1200 S Bandit that he was looking to sell a couple of years back. Actually his wife was pressuring him to sell. He loved the bike but has back issues that keep him from riding it much. Don't think he ever sold it because he wanted $7K. Might go over and see if he still has it and if he's backed off the price any.
