this is his / was his gsxr...

he was breaking for a red light, and well the car didnt see him slow down...

He is okay... but the bike isnt... can't be fixed!

Due to him lowering the bike, and up grading the breaks also fitting new sprockets and filter...

without! telling the insurence company, he has no insurence!!!, and is paying for the cars damage and not getting anything from the bike!

Its worth over £5000, he is so shocked!!!!!

Just to think, i was going to turbocharge the busa! but didnt want to pay the extra £250 per year if telling the insurence company... but now, im going to...

I don't know the laws for where you live but that sounds incredibly fishy, tell your friend to seek legal advice it those parts don't sound like items you could cancel insurance over.

Sounds fishy to me also. If he was rear ended doesn't that mean the accident wasn't his fault? :dunno:

Your laws appear to be vastly different than ours.

Good luck, and glad your friend is okay. :beerchug:

It's England.....just wait until the US Government takes over the vehicle insurance industry. It will be fishy for us too!

The quote on how much the bike was worth is in pounds...like English pounds. England is also very heavily socialized, taxed and regulated...just like we are going to be. Or did I missing something ???

I think you missed somthing, But nothing like trying to bring politics into a general topic. ???

this is a reminder to everyone to find out what will cancle their insurance policy.

Like my 07 with nos if it ever gets into an accident that bottle of nos was never there or is lieing in the ditch hiding.

But you should make sure that your insurance covers your mods I know that state farm will cover some mods, because they replaced my pipes when I high sided last year

this is his / was his gsxr...

Where? Pics?

I don't know what the laws are or how things work out there so I can't really comment on the insurance situation. I am sorry to hear about your friends bike but glad to know he is ok.

Lawyer up...

That is complete BS.

If nothing else the insurance policy should be refunded back to the date that he installed the mods.

Try going the route of proving that all the mods done were to enhance safety.

he is in wales, he emailed me this pic and the pic of his helmet...

I dont think he has anymore, but i'll get him to take some...

the law here is, if your hit from behind it is the persons falt for driving/riding to close...
BUT

The other insurence company will NOT pay, due to him having valid insurence...

He has recived a bill of £1300 through the post after 2 visits to court...

I really feel sorry for him...

Anyway i'll phone him toniht and see if he has any more, after all i though if u was modding the bike to do with preformance thats the only reason you would have to tell the insurence company... in the uk they will try anyway to get out!!! and it looks like bennets have wone!!

Anyway, i dont care about the bike or the amount he has paid, after all, hes not dead, just abit shock up... the car hit him at around 45mph while he was rolling at 15mph up to the lights...

I think car drivers are some times worse than bikers... even tho we get more Sh*t from people...

Well the latest post puts this guy in Wales which is squarely on the English Isle so I think it is you that missed something. The insurance company and courts allowing this poor guy to get screwed is all about politics and government regulations in letting it happen. And if you don't think it will happen here just wait.....it's called socialism.

I am glad this fellow was able to walk away after a 30 MPH hit (45-15=30), he will recover from his bumps and bruises but he is going to take a heck of a hit in the wallet. 5,000 GBP converts to $8,278 US and that is a heck of hit for any of us take as an unisured loss and that sucks. Owens231, tell your buddy to get a good solicitor, no matter what he did in modifying the motorcycle it does not contribute to the cause of the accident in anyway even under UK law (unless he made it invisible). And also, there is no pic of his helmet.

I'm glad he's okay. Sorry about the bike.

The part that sounds fishy is the claim that insurance won't cover his basic bike costs just because of some minor mods. I can see them not covering the modifications, but the stock value of the bike should be a no brainer.

Everyone will give up their guns without a whimper...too much to lose if they don't.

This thread is about to be HIJACKED!!!!
