Syching the Throttle Bodies

Ive done a few searches and cant find what I need. I need to buy mercury sticks or guages to synch the throttle bodies. Where do I find them?

Here's one you might use: Carbtune

Some other tools: Motion Pro

All of my prayers to the Google god went unanswered: I couldn't find a picture of the one I use. It's a mercury stick set made by Motion Pro. For all I know, they don't make it any more but since I just bought it last year, I find it a little hard to believe that . . . .

Try this.

Either Jinkster or Icemann put another synch thread which is outstanding but I haven't been able to find it.

Thanks. ill look at it. only little problem is that my bike is turbo'd and im not sure if the procedure is the same. theres so many more vacuum lines now for the wastegate and blow off valve now.

Ah. In that case, I'd be the last to know!

I have a set of vacuum guages, but don't use them!!!! not necessary, get a small drill bit and set all plates the same, use idle adjust for initial set up of bit, then return after your done!!!,hope this helps

You may want to ping Johnny Cheese on sny. the throttle hes a great guy and no's his stuff bro.

JOHNNY WHERE YOU AT BRO !!!!!!

Don't trust the drill bit method. You are only setting the butterflies with these and not tuning to the vacuum pull of each individual cylinder. The vacuum can be off just a little bit on a cylinder and the bike won't run nearly as well as perfectly synced throttle bodies/carbs.
Go ahead and spend the money on some nice mercury gages. Don't bother with dial gages. The carb tunes's look very nice though I've never seen them in person. I have a 20 year old set of mercury filled glass tubes. They work great and it takes less than a half hour to make sure they are synced correctly. Well worth the money and easy to do. If you've never done it before I would recommend finding someone who knows what they are doing to learn the first time.

I'm not even sure what the drill bit method is. I'll take your word for it for the time being. Besides, I already have the Motion Pro Mercury sticks so I'd just as soon keep getting my money's worth there.

Hey Wag,

As mentioned before,I have some guages,I did some comparitive tests after set-up of TB with guages, heres what I found, drill bit method does work, although primitive it will get ya in the ball park,IE no guages, another thing I found was (again after all TB are sync'ed) taking a vernier and measuring the depth from top of throttle body to plate was surprisingly, all within -.000" +.004" guages do work the best of course, just trying to find some shortcuts!!!!!

Goddammitt!!!  You still haven't said HOW to do the drill bit method!

With no basis for comparison, how the hell am I supposed to do anything but take your word for it!?

I'm playin' with ya, bro.  Seriously, I'm just curious as to what it's all about but I don't NEEED to know.  Just the kind of thing I like to have in the mental banks (limited as they are) for the oddball chance someone else asks about it!  I'll just happen to be able to help 'em.

All in the pursuit of added wisdom and knowledge!
