SUZUKI Raising Prices Again

I talk to my Suzuki dealer today and he showed a new e-mail he just received from Suzuki saying they were going to raise :cheerleader: the price of the new bikes by 5% as of January 15. I think that kinda stinks seeing the price of the 09 have already went up earlier. He said that that Honda and Kawaski were going to actually lower their prices a little. Just thought I would pass this on.

That's odd...

Harley has dropped prices
2008 fat boy $17,100
2009 fat boy $15,999

Victory dropped prices
2008 Hammer S $19,866
2009 Hammer S $18,499

The new Kawasaki Voyager is priced at $12,200
which I posted is pretty strong for a bike of this
size and quality including all the R&D work.
Bear in mind the Suzuki C109R is allready priced at $14,099
up from $13,799 of 2008.

Seems like Suzuki is going the wrong way.
Could be a sign of the "for sale" sign going up on Suzuki
Raising product prices for larger asset number to raise overall
sales price. Or...could be a sign of financial trouble period.
hmmmm....???
I don't relish the thought of buying a 2010 Busa with a Harley symbol
on it...course it could give new meaning the "screaming eagle" package.
Hell, they bought MV Augusta didn't they....

or it could be the classic economic model of supply and demand. Everyone wants one so up goes the price:whistle:

If demand were high then why would Suzuki be singing financial woes
with a possible sale of the company looming...

only thin I can say is that, that is real stupid. that's just dumb it relly stinks.

I see where GM has sold their shares in Suzuki but haven't found anything on the company itself in financial woes...can you post a link? Here is a link that may support my theory...although I was just really playing devils advocate. Seems they did withdraw from the World Rally Championship though....

Well I looked at a few business articles and didn't find much to support the claim that Suzuki is up for sale. Looks like all auto industries are having a rough go of it across the globe. Bottom line: glad I got mine before prices increased.

I guess Suzuki hasn't heard about the recession or the number of used bikes for cheap.
They will and then they will adjust their prices.
Have faith in the free market system. ( as free as it can be with 8 Trillion of subsidies)

Well...Harley and value do not exactly belong in the same sentice to
begin with...unless "lack of" is in front of value.

My point is I wouldn't pick a worse case senerio as a business model
and tout better than.

Price/sales/profit models are curious things. It's not always lower price =more sales=higher profit. There is a point at which the price can be raised which may reduce sales but profit is increased. It is possible to sell fewer units and make more money.

Ohhhhhhh-wuh.......no one around here pays MSRP for their new Busa's.....we have too many members with too many connections....no sweat on the 09's !!!! :super:

Yesterday, I heard the same thing (about Suzuki raising its prices).

Whatever is going to happen, well, we'll see when it happens!

Still at $12,499 on their web site. Doesn't make much sense to RAISE prices if your strapped for sales. Could see not giving any price breaks, but raising it seems counter productive to me.???
