Sunday in Tampa---NEW DATE

She says "Thanks Raider"... we will both be there~
The R1 can't make it~ He has to work this weekend~
Looks like we'll have an SV650 in his place though~
See ya in the morning~

Have fun gentleman...and lady. I'll be uh sitting over here in Melbourne thinking about riding... Shiney side up you all.

Very Good ride today, thanks Raider.

Yex only offroaded once.
tounge.gif
But we did have one guy go down after hitting some gravel. Just some scrapes on his Ninja and I think his front fork was tweaked. He may have sprained his finger. Hit the gravel on a hard left turn, slid into a deep ditch and then broadsided a 6 foot chain link. A little shaken . But he got up and kept on riding!
biggrin.gif

I really enjoy these Raider rides. I feel much more secure in this group than I did with the other crowd we ran with. Thanks for letting me tag along!

Yex Offroading? Might hafta unplug a sparkplug or two... Ninja in the ditch? I dunno... Sounds like if we are not REALLY DAMN careful this ride will become another squid Crash Fest, just like some of the others out there... This is strictly a NO CRASHING ALLOWED ride.
smile.gif
Damn glad no one was injured. Where did this happen? Do you remember the road?

Anyhoo, Glad everyone managed to survive. But I guess I am not sorry I missed the drama...
laugh.gif
Glad over all it was a success, how about Greg? How did the Hubby do?

See you all later, maybe a weekday get together this week, something in the evening... Maybe dinner somewhere?

Later All,

Rev

Yeah, Yex was too hot into the corner , after you turn right on 41 and it was the next right...She knew it and decided to go through the ditch, she came out through a driveway, no harm no fowl.

The road where the ninja went down was close to the end.. where you can turn left and go to Hess or turn right and go round and round a little bit more. Sorry don't know the names of the roads.

Joker did well, he's getting his speed up in the corners..getting good lean.

Hope to see ya on the next one..

Yex was on Newberger.
The ZX-9 was the Last left on Bayshead heading to wards Lake Iola RD. (ie on the trip out)
I didn't see Yex. The ZX-9 simply went wide and dropped the front wheel off the road.
That turn is off camber, don't think he realized it.

PS. Kat..thanks for the good words. You are doing better every time I see you! Glad you are having a good time!

Hey peeps---great ride today!!  Nice to see you again Raider, Tony, met some new people Craig on the nice purple Busa, another guy--sorry forgot your name:blush: on a silver Busa. and of course Brenda and Greg!!

Yes I went off road--however I kept it up and have had no crashes to my name on any ride so far:cool:  With 2 track days under my belt anyone who knows how I ride can vouch that I am a very good rider!!
wink.gif

Stuff happens!!  The guy on the Kawi slid in some sand which there was a lot of on that one road.

Thanks again Raider for an awesome lead on the ride!!  I like the smaller group setting for sure
biggrin.gif
I look forward to the next ride.

Oh yeah--thank goodness the popo was behaving today!!  LOL:p

Sounds like I missed another good one. I went out riding with my father saturday night and got caught in the heavy thunderstorm on this side of the bay. That being said I spent the morning cleaning the bike up....she doesn't like the water. Sounds like I will definetly have to get out there this coming Sunday.....you know, weather permitting.

First... Welcome to the org! needs to go out to TheKatsMeow and RSixxygrl!!
The emoticons work better if you put a space after the end of your sentance and before the emoticon~
tounge.gif

Then: It was a good ride~ One of the bigger groups I've been in on the Raider Rides~ I don't think anyone was being "squidly" at all~ It was just one of those days that had some peeps miscalculating the corners~ I tend to do that, myself, on unfamiliar roads~
wink.gif
Only squid I noticed was some guy, that we seemed to pick up from the Hess, on an SV or something~ He started passing peeps in the corners and such~ Needless to say.. he was gone after the first stop sign.. guess he didn't like what some had to say about his group riding style~
laugh.gif

I'm getting much more comfortable with the Busa now~ Got near 3k on the odometer already~ Taking it on the track seems to have helped quite a bit~ With the proper gear.. I think I could get a knee down in time~

Hey, Welcome to the board Rsix...  Just to be clear, I wasn't refering to you as one of the Squiddly's.  What I am saying though is after hearing trip report after trip report on SK it starts sounding like a never ending crash fest. I know that is not the case but I have been riding with Raider for the last 9 months or so and there hadn't been a single incident in all that time with any number of riders along, some familiar some not.  That was my point...  Hell, Maybe it's because I WASN'T there?
smile.gif
Anyhoo Yex the comment wasn't aimed at you... I've spent a couple hours riding with you and know you are not a squid...  Smooth best describes your riding style...

Besides, we all have our "special" moments...

This Sunday I am going to try to be out there.  I keep promising VFR750Girl that I will take her out on a Sunday, problem is, I don't wanna head all the way out to Brandon then up to Powersports, so we'll see, she definitely needs someone to take her out and ride slow with her for a few hours though, try to get her to relax a little bit...

Anyhoo, maybe I'll see you all out there this weekend?

Rev

No problem Rev!! I didn't mean to come across harsh...and yes you had to be there!! LOL I know you only rode with me once so it's kind of hard to tell how a person's style is on just one ride. I think the reason the other board has so many crashes is that the groups get too big AND the testosterone starts to kick in more in some guys than it does others
tounge.gif
Although I do admit in big groups like that, the testosterone kind of rubs off on me too a bit!!
laugh.gif
But I have tried to keep in my limits and push them at the same time...if that makes any sense.

I guess I am just liking the offroad riding somewhat
tounge.gif
I think I need to buy a small dirtbike sometime this year and go have some fun in the dirt and mud!!
biggrin.gif

Hope u can come out Sun. and as for VFR girl--IMO it probably is best for someone just starting out like that to not do group rides. Newbies really need to learn how to ride in just regular situations first. I know it helped me to just go out with one person on country roads for many months before my 1st group ride. I rode with only 1 other person for 4 months and he taught me many things including telling me my mistakes and how to correct
wink.gif

The only person I have found that is quite the exception to this is TheKatsMeow--however, she used to ride many years ago, also she is more mature in age as well and knows how to handle things. I notice many younger people who get a bike will tend to think they have something to prove to others--and they don't--they just need to ride in their limits and learn gradually like how a pilot learns to fly a plane.

So anywho...I like riding on Raider's and RC51guy's rides--they are fun and just the right size...hope to be out there this Sundays with yous and the rest of yous too!!

Just a note: I am coming from Saint Pete, so it isn't that much of a detour to swing out to Brandon, if VFR750Girl needs an escort.  I can be convinced to ride (moderately) slowly (when required!!).
tounge.gif

Just means I get to ride longer, too!!!!
biggrin.gif

I wasn't going to say anything but since RSixxy brought it up..VFRgirl needs to go an MSF course. She has NO experience. She scares me with the posts that she has made.

Yes, she needs one on one time with someone willing to spend the time with her.

No hatin'...I would rather see her safe than flyin around without experience.

No No, I think you and RSixx are dead on... So my choices are go for a nice fun ride up north, or go "Babysit" for the day.... I tried to get her to head out on Saturday but we'll see. I don't mean babysit literally though... You all know what I mean, I just think she needs exactly what Rsixx is talking about... Just someone who is going to be patient and able to ride casually... Actually I am going to take her to a parking lot somewhere first and go over some basics with her, assuming of course that she is willing to learn, if she's not, well that will be a real short afternoon...

Yeah, I didn't realize how little experiance she had until I talked to her a few times and then read some of her posts... I am concerned though... I worry that if she doesn't get the right person to head out in the country with she is going to either end up injured, or end up quitting... Hell I am not looking for a date, that was my other concern... it's hard for ladies to find folks to ride with that aren't allways working an angle... So I figure I have experiance enough riding to be really helpful, and I would really like to help her to get out there and enjoy the ride, before she gives up...

OOO...I didn't know she hadn't taken the MSF course??!! I thought she had!!
wow.gif

Have to agree with KatsMeow--that is FIRST AND FOREMOST!!! It's a wonderful course that teaches you basics but they do tell you to practice in an empty parking lot till you are blue in the face and can't stand it anymore---I was in in a parking lot for 2 months practicing by myself or with one person watching me and helping me.

I don't know what posts she has posted as I barely go onto SK anymore so you guys would know better on that one. I do know that she has had one accident already.

Rev--hope you can influence her to take the MSF course--if not I can have her talk to someone who is her age who made a very bad mistake on a new R6--1st bike with no way in knowing how to ride and wound up in 2 accidents with 2 different r6s she was riding and was air lifted to a hospital after the 2nd accident. She almost died!!

She finally saw the light and now is an MSF instructor herself
wink.gif

It's so important for someone who has never rode on a bike to learn gradually or very big mistakes can be made later on, bikes aren't toys like a little red wagon, it's serious and those cagers out there drive like complete maniacs.

In fact I would like to take the MSF advanced course maybe sometime this summer to beef up on more skills. I am still learning in almost 2 years of riding
smile.gif

I really hope VFr girl takes it slow...I hate hearing about people who have had an accident or worse
wow.gif
It makes me very very sad. I wouldn't wish that fate even on my worst enemy!!

wow.gif

Anybody 'sides me and Raider goin' out Sunday 23MAY04?

If so, let me know if you want to meet @ K&K. Gotta meet Raider @ Marathon on 54, but more fun to hit twisties on the way!

BTW (By The Way) this is not an "official" Raider ride, just the regular riding. All comers welcome (bring your ridin' gear!)!!

wink.gif

I'm not sure if I'm goona make it out yet~ I've got the Busa all nekkid in my garage right now~ Just changing out the fluids and checking bolts and such~
Speaking of Bolts.. it depends on how the game goes today, as far as how soon I get it all back together~ I may be too glued to the Idiot Box to be running back and forth~ Guess I should set up a TV in the garage!?! Flushing out all the old coolant takes more time then I expected~ I'm fixing to change it over to the EngineIce and want it flushed as thourough as possible~
I'll let ya know, before I hit the rac this evening, if I'll make it in the morning~ Even if so, I'll prolly just hook up with Raider at the Marathon... what time was you figurin on gettin there, Raider?
