Stock Fuel Pump Relocation? Gen 1

I have a 2000 model with the external pump.. I want to mount the stock pump somewhere else..does the pump and filter have to be in the housing it resides in now that's bolted to brackets? Or can I take the pump by itself and move elsewhere?

Short answer.... either do a 'in-tank' conversion or just leave it where it is.
Why do you want to move it anyway?
A whole lot of work for what gain?
I have a '99 Busa and have just serviced my fuel pump with new filter and cleaned the gunked up pump screen... what a huge difference that made!!
No more lean surge at cruise in top gear and more power in general.
The air to fuel ratio is now 12:1 to 14:1 on average, from 16-20:1 as it was before the service.
The spark plug color is now amber on the porcelain insulator instead of white, with sooty deposits on the rim.
