steering damper

Hi guys, I had a rattle or more like a bump knock sound in the front under the nose. Had to install a new lo beam light and noticed it was the steering damper that was what I thought loose. I tightened more, it wasnt loose. Still has ply in it. up and down not side to side. So is it worn out or any other quick fix. Thanks

Nope, that's all normal.

ok thanks then guys, I just never heard that on the 99 and it went over 50k mi. Its annoying but now that I know what it is I feel better. Thanks again..

Cerebusa, u might want to think somewhere along the line of getting a real steering dampner like an Ohlins or Scott. The OEM one is a joke. I like the Scotts the best because you can adjust the dampning on the fly...

I put some O-rings on eather side of the damper where it bolts to the stay.

and while its off change to 90 wieght oil
