"First is the front sprocket. Ive seen pictures of totally flat sprockets as well as sprockets with a thicker center section. What does the Hayabusa come stock with?"

Tommyboy, I'll let you know how mine works after I put it together tomorrow.  I'm going 16/42 with a new chain.  I was puzzled to see the difference between the stock front and the a/m I bought from Sprocket Specialists.   The stock had rubber washers on each side while the a/m was just a flat piece.  Fitment is definitely a concern because the teeth are now further in.

I'll post to let you know how it goes.

The rubber does not effect the position of the teeth on the OEM sprocket. They are still in the same place ans the flat one.

The rubber is a vibration dampener. I still want to know why some Hayabusa front sprocket center sections are thick and some are thin.

Oh well,

I tried to switch out the front sprocket and only succeeded in stripping out the "speed sensor" bolt. Never did get the front sprocket on, although Cudos to "street and track" for their awesome customer service and speed. Should I try a 42 or 43 on the rear considering what I was hoping to gain by going to 16 on the front.

I went with 17/42. very suttle change, just makes first gear not feel so tall IMHO. i like it.
