Nice ALI, Interesting read...Socialism is one of those things that sound terrific, I mean now even saying it aloud, "a restaurant where the poor eat free and the privileged get lower cost meals which ultimately fund the free meals"....it sounds genius. That is without taking into accountability, the people though. This really solidifies the fact that when given the option between right and wrong with no repercussions for either, 7 out of 10 people will choose wrong.https://www.dailywire.com/news/4310...ook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=benshapiro "As with every socialist experiment, the natural harmony between the commoners and the power-brokers devolved into hostility"
my grandmother used to tell me that morality is "What we choose to do when nobody is looking"...……………. even my fiancée tries to steal stuff now that Walmart is 100 percent self check out... drives me nuts.... I have scolded her more than once for doing this.... I will never steal anything….. I don't have to. not anymore..... god willing. … my girls code of morality seems to be "If it doesn't scan after the third attempt to pay for said item... it is free."Nice ALI, Interesting read...Socialism is one of those things that sound terrific, I mean now even saying it aloud, "a restaurant where the poor eat free and the privileged get lower cost meals which ultimately fund the free meals"....it sounds genius. It is sad but unfortunately the truth. It is no wonder those Panera Cares stores couldnt survive. I also find that the people who really cant afford to give are the ones who do.
I think in part that is what makes this forum so special. You can have someone list something up on here free of charge and we know that the forum members will see to it that these budget parts reach the members most in need.
Oh man that is the same thing my first manager told me, well he asked if I knew what the definition of character was. and then as you said proceeded to tell me what we choose to do when nobody is looking.my grandmother used to tell me that morality is "What we choose to do when nobody is looking"...……………. even my fiancée tries to steal stuff now that Walmart is 100 percent self check out... drives me nuts.... This was in a seminar I attended about 10 years ago when I worked for Cablevision in which they were outlining the percentage of individuals likely to take or abuse materials from the work place. This could be a skewed interpretation lol but they claim that when given the opportunity to do wrong many people seize the chance.Ben Shapiro has a particular world view. This story fits it nicely.
Steve, I question where you got your "fact" about 70% of people will choose wrong.
This model works elsewhere, has for years.
Evidence from larger social surveys doesn't support that claim, in fact the inverse is true. Even when controlled for age, class, race, religion and gender, the vast majority of people (around 78%) are honest most of the time. Your former employer had to justify unpopular policies I'd imagine.....This was in a seminar I attended about 10 years ago when I worked for Cablevision in which they were outlining the percentage of individuals likely to take or abuse materials from the work place. HAH that could actually be very true. The sad part is I have been under this delusion for the past 10 years of my life. If 78% of people are honest that is a damn good percentage. All these years of frowning on society and preparing to be screwed over.Evidence from larger social surveys doesn't support that claim, in fact the inverse is true. Socialism isn't predicated on people doing the right thing. It is not the same as communism, which is what China and the USSR nominally practiced.I dunno.… if people fundamentally did the right thing.... then ideas like socialism could survive and thrive.
working TOGETHER for the common good... Communism and socialism are economic and political structures that promote equality and seek to eliminate social classes. The two are interchangeable in some ways, but different in others. In a communist society, the working class owns everything, and EVERYONE works toward the same COMMUNAL GOAL.Socialism isn't predicated on people doing the right thing. It's a socio-economic system.
Communism and Socialism have similarities, but they aren't interchangeable. They are indeed socio-economic in nature, and are commonly understood as political ideologies.working TOGETHER for the common good... This is a loose description of communism, not socialism. The key difference is ownership of the means of production. Communism gives it to the party, socialism to the workers.IE.. a doctor would receive the same pay as a street sweeper. A manufacturer of weapons would NEVER steal any product and sell illegally.…. NO underground drug market..... also.... in many instances a centrally planned economy in 5 year increments... which make change nearly impossible... its a great idea.... but people suck.
20 million people died in socialisms "forced labor camps"..... via the intellegencia in the formet Soviet union.... I see ure trying to draw a distinction... but really..... who cares? soooooo closely related.. based off the same ideology.Communism and Socialism have similarities, but they aren't interchangeable. None of which has anything to do with people doing "the right thing". They are rewarded for their contributions.
well... for the millions in stalins forced labor camps.... they werrent rewarded.Communism and Socialism have similarities, but they aren't interchangeable. They are indeed socio-economic in nature, and are commonly understood as political ideologies.
