Before I bought my Busa, I did a lot of research and looked at many different bikes. I looked off and on for about two full years before getting really intensely serious. The Busa was on the list but I had never seen one actually on the road nor had I talk to people about them so I wasn’t sure until I came to the ORG (Obsessed Riders Group) then it grew on me very quickly.

Why is the bike that has sold like hotcakes over the last ten years and is widely recognized so hard to find on the road? I ride everyday and sometimes weekends and to this day I have only seen three, and these were on the same day.

They were in Sunset Beach & Huntington Beach.

Questions is: Where and when do Socal / Orange Co. riders ride?

Thank you ORG

All over da place!!!

For some of us in San Diego, the location keeps us on our day-rides closer to Palomar, Montezuma, Banner Grade, Idyllwild (79/243), Sage, and the likes of those...

The Suzuki Owner's Club of North America (SoCal Chapter) is putting together our first ride north of San Diego to collect more of the LA crowd than has been willing/able to make the first two rides (which launched from Oceanside).

PM me if you're interested in any of that... My question is, then...where do YOU ride? :beerchug:

Otherwise, a picture is worth 1,000 words...

:bowdown:SCAR you are the mileage master indeed.

I don't put on my bike near the miles you do! WOW I do wish I could.
I only have 2K on my '09 so far but plan to keep trying.
I mainly ride in the southwest OC, Long Beach to Laguna, Huntington Beach, Anaheim, and one trip to the mountains.
I do plan on going to Crestline / Lake Gregory this summer as much as possible.
How north of San Diego is the ride you are putting together?

Lake Elsinore is where I be.

I frequently ride Ortega (10 mins away) and need to start hooking up with the SoCal (San Diegan) peeps more often.

Thanks for the props, Bubba...the next SOC-NA ride is going to be nearly in LA. The first two, as mentioned above, launched from Oceanside, and we did fairly well gathering a crowd (mind you, there are cruisers, etc., in the group as it is a Suzuki group, not a 'busa group, specifically).

Getting a ride that starts in or near LA, though, will be better and fair for those who made the trip to (basically) San Diego (in the crap weather we had both of those times).

It's gonna be March, though before the next one, so we'll keep you posted. In the interim, maybe you'd venture over to Suzuki Owners Club of North America and become a member; it's where the above-mentioned rides are organized.

I hear ya on the rarity of a great selling bike, before I got mine I had seen only 4 in my area, come to find out that there are about 10, dont know where they hide. Did notice that the excitment if seein a Busa has gone down since one moved into my garage 2 years ago, but still enjoy seein one once and while

Thanks, SCAR & DD
I will look for the info and look forward to future rides if I can swing them.

Devil Dog, is the candy store still there on the 74?
Do you ever go to the waterfalls?
I have pics of my kids playing in the falls when they were 7 & 5, they are now 24 & 22 Wow how time flys when you’re getting old.
Thanks again for all the great info.

I heard (don't believe everything you hear) someone quoted an insurance-industry report that the life-expectancy of a sport-bike is like 1 year. Sheer craziness, I tell ya. True or not true, it certainly speaks to the 'rarity' perspective.

I used to live in Anaheim, not far from where you're located. We would ride in Angeles Crest, Santa Monica Hills area, much of the area north of Tujunga area, etc.

That road you're talking about up toward Big Bear is a great road too. You'll love it.

Also, Idyllwild, Palm Springs (Seven Level), etc. There are some great roads out there. Keep pluggin' away at it and you'll see the Busa riders out there. The good ones, anyway! The rest are showboating at bike nights!

Thank you for reminding me of Idyllwild, I haven't been there in years.
I have a time share in Palm Springs but haven't been there in a long time.
What is Seven Level?
I may have to make these trips this summer.
Thanks again.

Seven Levels is a road which is also known as Pines-to-Palms. Going (up or) down the mountainside, you travel through seven climate zones. Highway 74 from Palm Desert will do it, as well; 243 from Banning. Palm trees to Pine trees.

Bubba: We get out there all the time during the summer. You and I will definitely be riding those roads together! Let's hook it up!

SCAR thanks for the info on the Seven Levels and the invite to ride.
As you see, I am a real noob when it comes to the twisties, but I love to ride and will try anything once, and if it doesn’t kill me I usually do it over and over (just my obsessive way). The only experience I have is going to Crestline and I really loved that ride even with the high winds and dirty roads.
I think I saw a photo of you and the gang in Idyllwild.
I would love to get back up there and camp out for a weekend. Do you ever do overnighters?

No local overnighters, though there are a few longer-range rides on the radar for the summer.

58 from Bakersfield to Tehachapi, or the 178 from Bakersfield to Inyokern are both fun rides. The 58 is very boring once you get east of Tehachapi, but I have friends that live in Boron so I make the drive anyway.

Anyone planning anything soon?
