So my brand new busa seems to have damage to it...

so i just bought a new 2007 black busa 3 weeks ago. I've ridden it 300 miles so far. Only ridden it 3 times. So today is the first time i went to actually clean the bike, as well as take all the decals off the rear end, the nose, and all the warning stickers, leaving only the main kanji decal on up front.

Anyway so we took the decals off the back end and get down to take the warning sticker off the stator case side of the swing arm, and BAM my stomach went in knots the stator case bottom and bottom of the side are really scared up like the bike had been dropped. So me and my roomate are freaking out to check the rest of the bike out. There is rash on that side at the bottom of the exhaust muffler as well. Then we notice there is no peg post (whatever its called) under the driver peg.......its broken off not, just missing. Next we see there is a very small rash mark on the end of the clutch lever ball, and then finally small rash on the bottom of the mirror. This DAMN BIKE HAS BEEN DROPPED!!!!

Then i notice there is a very slight dent in the gas tank on that same side, just BARELY noticeable if you run your hand over it. Its in the upper center of the side near the curve to the top side of the tank. There is no rash or anything, so i'm sure its not related to whatever caused the rest of the damage.

What the hell man?

? Has anyone ever experienced this kind of thing before? They are supposed to replace all this stuff at this point right? I seriously can't believe i noticed it in a sunday when the dealership is closed. I feel like going to the managers house i'm so upset. What can i do?

yes it has a huge area all to itself in my garage, and a cover goes on it every time i'm not using it, with soft microfiber blankets under the cover.

I would guess that since you took delivery of the bike and none of that stuff was mentioned at the time you took delivery, the dealership is going to say the bike was perfect when you got and you did this to it.

Not sure what you can do, but after 3 weeks and 300 miles you'll have a tough time convincing them it's their fault.

Sounds like maybe somebody else accidentally knocked the bike over and kindly picked it back up up without an "I'm Sorry" note.

no way, i've only stopped at the dealership, and at 2 gas stations, besides that its been in my garage. Its never been left unattended except at the dealer, but at the dealer it was parked RIGHT out front and lots of guys were outside so if it got knocked over it would not have gone unnoticed

Dude, I gotta tell ya, you are prolly like the porn star ---------------------- screwed.

you guys really think they would be pricks and not fix this? I feel so aweful this is my baby, the reason i bought new instead of used was because i wanted a perfect cosmetic bike. I know i can buy aftermarket mirrors that look better for $40, the exhaust is being replaced so i don't care about the muffler. The OEM stator case (i like the stock all black) can be had for $65 shipped off ebay. The lever is so minor i don't care. But the pin off the peg and the gas tank are whats bothering me. I can't just replace the gas tank, thats probably a fortune

How many bikes have you bought from them? How much business have you sent them? I honestly believe that if you don't have a very good working relationship with them, they are going to say "It wasn't like that when you took it home".

Unless you are dating the owners daugther I wouldn't give you good odds and getting them to take care of it. And like the Busa riding sailor says, I think your screwed.

They could be the nicest group of salesman, but after this much time you've got a fight on your hands. If it were something mechanical it might be a different story. Like everyone else has said once you drive it off the lot its yours regarding visible defects. 300 miles is a lot of opportunity for that stuff to happen. Understand your frustration, but gotta be honest with you.

well **** it looks beautiful so i didn't think anything was wrong. I guess because that side is always slanted when parked because its the kickstand side i never saw the stator case cover. The gas tank is what is really pissing me off that is one expensive friggin piece to replace.

+1 Sorry dude

if you don't point out any damage before you take delivery...how are you going to
prove it didn't happen while YOU rode it

They want me to trade it in for a 2007 Honda 1000rr straight up, maybe i'll take the deal and they can deal with this crap instead of me. But then again i bet the Honda feels wimpy in comparison as far as torque

Hey i see you have a 1000rr how would you say it compares to the busa as far as comfort and power?

Take the bike in for its oil change in another 300 miles and then when you go to pick it up say WTF did you do to my bike!!!!
Turn it around on them!

Depends on the type of riding you do...if you prefer HIGH speed runs then the Busa is the way to go.
If you love twisties, then the RR is a better choice

I'm more into comfort and quick acceleration, and speed, but mainly acceleration is my thing, speed is secondary. The thing i'm worried about is the torque. is the RR short on alot of torque pulling away from lights etc. than the busa?

ALthough i feel the busa is a bit heavy at times (i've ridden my friend's alot), Should i get a 2007 gixer 1000 if i want the balls of the busa but better turning and maneuvering? I know i'm pretty damn comfortable on my roomate's 04 gixer 1000 with aftermarket seat but that seems to be quite a bit bigger than the new gixers.
