I got my shift light installed. I got it from Boost by Smith. Nice, easy to install, easy to program. Almost plug and play.

Can't see the picture but is this a light that tells you when to shift?

When you turn the key on, the shift light comes on for a second. Its kinda hard getting a pic at 10500 rpms. Here is a pic from BOOST BY SMITH sight.

I still don't get its purpose?

It comes on at 10,500 rpms so you know to shift?

Yes Dino. It's a bright light that shines in your face to tell you when you need to shift without looking down at the tach.

Thanks.

What ever happened to shifting based upon the feel of the bike?

Mine came with one :poke: Glad you're happy with it and that the install went great.

Well of course yours did but you are old and 1/2 deaf and need all the help you can get. I am talking about those of us that are still young and have feeling below the waist.

Seriously though and I don't mean this as a slight to Slatroni but I don't need to look at the tach or a light to flash to tell me to shift. Is the feel of the bike that much different for guys that drag race? If so how? Just curious because idon't know very much about drag racing.

I think its because drag racing is about consistency. Hence, shifting at the exact same rpm, same time every time. It allows the drag racer to focus on the launch, body position, keeping it straight, throttle control, wheelspin etc, without having to think about how the bike 'feels.' rpms wise.

It becomes automatic after a few times of relying on the light. This is pretty common in about every drag car as well.

I would reflash the ecu and get an airshifter and set the shift points via the software and let it shift for me at the drag strip, greg has all of that stuf as well and his ecu harness comes with a shift light for the gen 1 i believe

Thanks, come to think of it, I remember seeing a light come on when I have seen dash cam shots of drag racing TV. Makes sence to me.
