I feel the towel will assist with compression. Here's the theory. The blue towel is representative of blue balls. We all know if you have blue balls we go faster.

What made you go with a gen 2 block?

The gen 1 on the bike has pressed rings in it. It would need to be milled. I got a great deal on a gen 2 so I went with it so I could keep deck height as close to stock as possible. The shop owner said I could have just doubled the base gasket after milling it. But I like to keep things as close to stock as possible. My theory is if 1 gasket can fail then 2 gaskets together will fail faster. But for anyone that wants a block to bore out and doesn't mind a lower deck for ex compression I am selling mine.
