Riding a Busa in Germany

If you are military ship it, if not take a look at the German M/C specs vs US spec and make sure you are within their guidelines. I have rode Germany and lived there 4 + years, you will love it, Germans are good people, probably the best in Europe.

Jealous!!!! You will find that riding at Autobahn speeds for any length of time on a sport bike is extremely tiring. The fun part is getting up to speed!!! Remember on the unrestricted stretches, the recommended speed is 130 KPH. You can go faster but insurance won't pay if you wreck. I recommend Zurich insurance. Make sure you buy some excellent rain gear also. If the company will pick it up, what's stopping you? Also look at licensing and registration. If you're military it's pretty easy but you will have to take a written driving test that is very extensive and will require some studying. Not sure what the rules are for civilians but I can find out for you.
a few things to consider on shipping it. 1. length of time it will be away/unavailable. 2. Its going in a cargo container on a ship. It will be exposed to that sea air for a bit. Not saying it would harm anything but then again, never know, polished stuff doesnt like constant wet/salty air. 3. How will it be shipped/protected?
I know a buddy who went through some fun when he bought a C5 vette while living in Germany from a US service guy. He was a civilian contractor and was able to license it no problem in Germany but the car had already met the guidelines for it. When he brought it back, eh, that sucked. Even though it was a US titled car at one point he had a hellova time getting it legal in CO.
If I could go, I would make sure I didnt have to modify my bike in anyway to make it so I could license it there and what the costs were to do it. I would also explore if I could buy a bike there and license it. Not sure how that works, might depend on your visa/work status? I'm jealous as hell though
I'd love to have my busa on those roads and be able to road trip around some places. Have a great time and of course you are not welcome back if you don't take pictures

Thx, I will go on a company management transfer visa. Will probably end up leaving my Busa here and get something over there, then sell it again.

Jelly, I've lived here for four years now, about to head back to the states next month. If you decide to ship it and have mods, including exhaust, do some research on TUV (German inspection). I get mine done on base, but I've heard that the TUV is pretty strict on what's 'allowed' on your bike. And as a german i cant help feel the same about germany ,ive visited many times family there and only once got to drive the autobahn in a VW.Imagine riding the mighty Busa on that beautiful stretch of highway that runs clear thru Germany without any worry of getting a speeding ticket and not having to mount your Escort evertime you get behind the wheel.Germany spends alot to keep the Autobahn tip top condition,i always wish that was over here.
