I asked my State Farm office about this in reference to track days. They said that as long as you are not involved in a competition for money (racing), you are covered.

Update. Guy got a broken wrist and a torn ligaments in his shoulder. Still hasnt seen the bike yet...

State Farm told me the same thing.

Glad he's alright. Good thing it happened in a controlled enviroment. Sounds like it was only a matter of time before he went down, and crowded streets are not fun to crash on.
