Replacment fuel pump problems

I'm trying to get my bike running but am having a issue. I put in a ebay fuel pump, I ran the positive line from the pump to where the red/yellow nut comes in, and the fuel pump negative to the nut on the metal slider of the assembly. With the pump in the tank it blows the fuse, with the pump out of the tank. It works just fine.

Your +12V is wired wrong. When you install the pump housing back in the tank it shorts out as you mentioned. The pump should be grounded by way of the wiring back into the circuit. +12V is making the pump work, but you have some how also put 12V to the housing it self. The pump wiring is connected to a large circuit including the side stand switch and tip over, etc. Nothing should be grounded thru the fuel tank. You have positively charged the housing.Thats my guess.
Rubb.
