I spend a lot of time watching movies.... all kinds.... anyone notice the quality and quantity of movies is declining in all genres? I dunno… is it just me? Im sooo sick of spending 75 bucks at the movie theatres hoping for a good flick only to be let down... I had high hopes for Texas chainsaw massacre in 3D at the theatre... but even that was borderline as far as excitement goes....

It seems like they put more into action and special effects these days than the story line. Take Jurassic Park. The first had a great story and last two not so much.

I have really had enough of super hero movies!

I was saying this just the other day, how movies are not as good and they seem to be relying more and more on re-makes instead of anything new.

Between movies and songs, I live in the past and watch and listen to the old stuff. I haven't been to a theatre in quite some time.

im the exact same way.... u know how bad it is.... there are 65 thriller movies on demand on my tv (pay to see $5-8 bucks each)…. My girl and I have seen 44 of them...……. nothing notable.... ADRIFT was pretty decent.... but its heart-wrenching stuff.

Unfriended Dark web …... was shocking and different.. but at the same time contrived.. I find myself watching CASINO/Scarface/shameless reruns

There are some great movies out there now. White Boy Rick was awesome. Bad Times at El Rodeo was another great suspense thriller. Even A Star is Born was surprisingly great. I saw Hunter Killer last night and it was big on suspense and action even if it didn't make sense.

BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE... and a star is born is a romantic job... directed by Bradley Cooper... lol... the hangover actor.

Some of the movies you guys have mentioned are not out over here yet or my mate via ussr hasn't pirated them for me yet....
But I have seen some crazy recent pictures , not mainstream at all , like Annihilation , a movie where women are the main actors , and Morgan , another freaky movie .
I still think 'Heat' , with De Niro and Pacino is one of the best action heist movies of all time , and another evergreen favorite of mine is 'A History of Violence' , and I watch these and more multiple times a year .
I would like to see the bad times at the el royale soon .

It was about an alien that crashed into earth and started to change the environment to suit itslf to survive , which expanded with no way to stop it . The 5 women were volunteers to go in and investigate after soldiers had not returned . It was sci -fi mystery and was pretty different , and Natilie Portman was the one that lost her bloke , and went looking for him . Yeah , I guess it was like you said , it was freaky tho , I liked it cos it was different .

I saw a star is born due to the wife, but it was really well done, especially compared to the original movie. Cooper did American Sniper, a really great movie.

Annihilation was good but petered out at the end. The problem with these types of Sci-Fi movies is that they start with a brain bending proposition and then can't resolve intellectually, so they shoot everything up. Ali just pretend you didn't hear that.

Anyone watch tv? There’s a new show called Mr. Inbetween that’s great. New Amsterdam is good as is the Jim Jefferies show. Surprisingly, Mayans M.C. is also pretty good. The old Barney Miller reruns are still holding up too.

As for superhero movies, I still think Captain America: Civil Wars is tops. Very intellectually elevated script. The Ironman character is amazing too. Christen Bale's Batman was awesome, especially with the joker. The X-Men movies are spotty but Wolverine is tops for action in that group. Probably not for everyone but Black Panther was amazing too. Wonder Woman is good but right on my tolerance of cheesy. Deadpool is great too - you have to watch a couple times to hear all the smart ass comments. Thor was entertaining, that is a very funny character anyway. Superman is boring. Ben Afleck is the suckiest Batman of them all.

I'm not one to start a movie and not finish it regardless of liking it or not.

With that said, I watched Hold The Dark. I'll never be able to get that time back.

I did however really like Bright on Netflix.

I would recommend a lot of Korean movies if you like dark/scary stuff.

Old boy and I saw the Devil would be good to start. Gangnam blues would be up your ally.. lmk if you like those, I can recommend more.

Old boy - The American remake wasn't half bad. - Josh Brolin..... The Korean original one was pretty gnarly though. But you guys have heard of the movie "The Grudge" right? With the sequel? there is actually a Japanese version between the two American ones called "Ju - On" Not much CGI, but scary as Sh!t. Its a series of stories that gets to one point and the stories seem insignificant ....until one makes sense of it all.....Didn't sleep for like 2 days...... But all time scary movie of all - "The Excorcist" - Not all this new stuff either, the original.
