Rear Tire

What is the biggest rear tire that you would go with. I still have the stock 190 but would like the look of the 200. I dont want to do this if it would adversly effect the handling. ANy thoughts.

Bike was designed for a 190 on the back.....use a 190. Unless all you care about is going straight. Handling WILL be affected otherwise.

And not in a good way.

you can goto a 200 no problem, lots of guys have.
you can also goto a 180/55, that one helps in twisties

Any bigger than a 200 and you'll get chain rub.

Stock BT is actually a 198 (So's the Busa-specific Metzeler M1, I believe) .

200 should fit. Another Board Member has a Maxxis 200 with no probs...

+1. I have a Pirelli Diablo 200 series rear on mine. Any bigger and you do face problems with rubbing.

the stock tire is closer to a 200 then a 190. if you do a lot of knee dragging go with a 180. If you do a lot of top end/high speed running then go with a 200. stay with a 190 if you do more sport touring. Shoot us a email if you need a tire.

Hmmm...

I've been using the 200 series for a long time - 20K of touring

Shinko, hooks up real good. I don't drag race, but I ride a butt load of wheelies and I got nearly 3000 miles out of my last one.

SHINKO R003 ULTRA SOFT GETS MY VOTE. I ALSO RUN A 200 ON MINE, NO PROBS FOR WHAT I USE IT FOR WHICH IS DRAG RACING AND STREET RIDING.

I put over a thousand miles on this already and not all in straight lines! LOL... But realy i do drive on the back curvy roads here in CT and once you get used to it the fat tire is fine. I had the bike for 4 months and put 8,000+ miles on it then added the 300 rear end kit and put on another 1,000. Unless your rat raceing or driving balls to the walls its a friggin hoot!.. and a crowd pleaser at gas stations.

The 'busa on the right has a 200 rear. Has had for 5000 miles and still goin' strong. I don't ride like Hayden. Still have 1 inch chicken strips front and rear but its comfortable.

Who's got the best price on a kit for the 300? I'm not really concerned about chrome or a long stretch I just love the look.
