I'm with you there....it would be a real challenge to reduce much more weight in my bike without breaking into the piggy bank.ok, so I have no hope for sub 500s now knowing how much TI you have....LOL. Thats a damn good weight on it though.
Add in your driving lights too.....I figured out where my math error is on the high to mid 490's calculation . The addition of cruise control , Rear SW Motec rack , GPS / Radar mounts . Cruise is 4 or pounds xx ounces . Rear rack is steel sides / Alum top plate figuring its in the 3 to 4 pound range . The misc stuff is a pound with a few ounces .
So if I removed those items , put on the stock seat Ram Jam would be in the mid 490's
Yeah that's why I was looking at that 501 number I got and thinking that can't be right. To hit 501 the Ohlins forks would have to be a 20+ lb weight savings and I don't think that's the case. Not sure why the scales I used were so far off. Guess I won't be shipping anything with those guys. Nice rig up you did though B.I figured out where my math error is on the high to mid 490's calculation . The addition of cruise control , Rear SW Motec rack , GPS / Radar mounts . 485 pounds . That is 100 lb reductionMy bike last got weighed on a local depot scale at 220kg . It was ridden in normal ride setup , straight from my mates dyno ( ZX14R was dyno'd ) shop directly across the road with fresh jerry can filled 12 liters of fuel .
Since then , it has had a couple of extra weight mods .
I look at your thing and see what you haven't done yet bro , your weight is always going to be more . I know what mine has had removed , with yes more to come off , but your sporting stock stuff mostly with more stuff added , got to be realistic , and happy with your lot .485 pounds . That is 100 lb reduction
It will never be a liter bike beater , all things equal , but it will out torque most on the open road , and be a bit of fun in the swervery for an old man to enjoy .Considering a GSXR1k is around 448 lbs, getting a Busa to 485 lbs is excellent weight loss strategy.
The crazy thing is the GSXR has around 199 hp at the engine.
I'm happy with the weight of my bike is now.
