Radar detectors

I am curious where and how you are mounting your radar detectors.. I have mine mounted on top of the gauge set with velcro.. looks good, fits good and is useless for Laser Radar.. SO... is there an option to get it up where it can do its job for Laser?

Kinda like yours, using suction cup mounts... works great especially when connected to the HARD transmitter, works as a tether if the setion cups decide not to suck...

Mines velcroed in the same spot power connected to headlight wire
best spot out of the way... have a wire to the headphones in my helmet as well

why wouldnt it catch the laser??? actually wasnt sure if any radar detector is great for laser anyway

Anything between the detector and the radar gun degrades the laser light, so the detector does not work so well..

Not that this really matters that much as the rules for using laser require that they target be at or less than 1000' away to work correctly. Probably why the laser traps seem to just "pop" up.. If you can not see them at this point I guess you are toast anyway.. What I hate are the "on ramp" shoot you in the back traps..

I removed the wind screen and fabbed up a steel bracket out of scrap metal i had laying around. I made the bracket so the detector would be level and facing straight forward. I used silicone sealer and a few screws to hold it securely in place right under the wind screen farther place forward. Then wired the cord to the fuse box under the left front panel, ran the wire just long enough to reach the detector. reinstall the wind screen.
The detector is out of the rain. This one has direction indicator to tell you where your headed, voltage meter to say how your charging system is working and emergency vehicle alert to tell you when fire trucks or ambulances are coming. I can hear it go off no problem even with Helmet on.
It works great!

Don`t bother, when laser hit you it`s too late and means you just got ticket.

agreed on the laser, they have to be within 1000' of you for it to work correctly, is why the ambush you in the first place.. but I would like it to work at least

So far the best indicator of laser traps I have seen is brake lights....

Another thing to watch for:

The Officer has to be no more than several feet from parallel with the target to properly use Laser. They will usually stand in the shade under an overpass right next to the fog line, (and hide their car on the opposite side). In long stretches of highway (if you have any in your area) you don't have to worry much about Laser, but in the more urbam areas with lot's of overpasses, WATCH OUT !!!!

Virginia sucks...we briefly ride through it on our annual WV sport tour, and you can tell you crossed from WV when the pavement starts to go to hell.
