radar detector

Just wondering what type of radar detector to get.  Also, where can I get a bike mounting kit for it.  Do they make something for front and rear radar.  Busa goes faster then you think its going.  Passed a parked cop on route 70 yesterday, looked down, doing 100!

Depends what your state and area are using. I have not found one that really works with lazers. radar Beltronic and passpoert and valentine. Laser they all claim to work i ahve tested them NOPE.

I use the force, and keep my eyelashes crossed that I don't pass one at an inopertune time.

... Works pretty well so far!

I have got a great radar detector I highly recommend.  I was using my old whistler but could not hear it at high speeds; consequently, I received 3 tickets on one occasion, I was pissed to say the least.

I searched and found the Sensoro Traveler It is one of the only detectors that has a earphone jack.  I went to radio shack for the earpiece and It works great. I never ride without it.

My Bel 946 plugs into my helmet and works great on my Stem stand.

Valentine One.... the only way to fly! I also have the HARD - Head's Up system, just now trying it. The batteries went dead FAST the first time, now I shut it off after every run... will post results once I have had more time to evaluate.

Sensoro ..... Wal-mart $129..You can operate it on batteries or a cigerette lighter insert. Its loud and has and audio jack output, as well as a bunch of little flashing lights. Finished third overall in the latest radar test behind Valentine One and the Bel 985. It beat them in a couple of catagories. I figured dolar for dollar its was the best buy for me. I highly recommend it.

Interesting unit . Beltronics also has ear jack batery operated. passport takes about 30 seconds to solder ainto it. I am still hoping for Blak silicon which absorbes light.

I found a listing on e-bay for the PNI sensoro travler. It listed for under $100. Sounds better than $300-$400 for the bell or valentine. I have a Whistler on my bike now but its about time for an upgrade.

Does anyone know if a motorcycle is harder to "clock" than a car? I figure with less frontal surface area it may make it more difficult to reflect the signal.

NCBusa,
Ive had two experiences where I was pulled over and asked that same question(if its harder to get motorcycles on radar)....I got two different answers....First, one cop pulled me over and told me he couldn't "lock in" on me because I went by him to fast, but he knew I was well over the limit so he pulled me over and gave a warning, he said that he was using a ka band radar and that on some occasions he will have trouble reading a speed from a motorcycle, but he also added most of the time he'll get them.(nice cop by the way)
The second time a cop got me by lazer, and he told me he read my original speed from my helmet as I crested over the top of a hill (If he wasn't bullsh-ting me, laser must be pretty dam accurate) This one cost me some cash! anyhow, it seems to make a big diffrence on how good and what type radar equipment each individual cop has.

Laser jamming would be the best way to get around laser, Bel have made a few good ones that work just about every time in tests. If a cop hits you with laser, its game over. Laser only works from the front of the vehicle, which is good in some ways.

I thought cops were going to stop useing Radar, the guns were suppose to cause cancer after long period of use

or was that wishful thinking, LOL.

I've been using a battery powered Escort Solo4 with the ear phone jack. Works great. You gotta be careful of the instant on radar that they use or they'll nail you anyway.
I always try to keep a car ahead of me so I can pick up the cop shooting the guy in front me. You also have to watch that they are not behind you, if they have radar on you still can detect it, but the only speeding tickets I've gotten riding is when they paced me with the speedometer.

Not true laser can be picked up from behind and from the side. That is why they make 360 laser dedectors that do not always work

I've got the same setup.
Agreed, batteries die fast. Looking into a battery pack for it using AAA's.

The V1/HARD combo can't be beat!!

I called up the guys thinking mine died after a week of use. They said you have to turn it off after each use for the batteries to "regenerate". I have not used it much since I replaced the batteries, but they seem to be holding up better...

That leagal speeding setup works pretty well. Here are a couple of pics.

Mine is a passport 7500, wired to the headlight, switches off and on with the key.
