I am in the Market for a Radar Detector for my Evelyn and I thought that you guys might have a lot more experience and possibly some good suggestions as far as Brand and Type as well as Mounts. Thanks.

I use an escort, ooppsss, I mean I use an escort radar detector with the HARD system. Works great... I have the transmitter installed behind the plastic upper, radar detector suction cups to windscreen, reciever fits inside helmet...

Escort is the way to go unless you want to shell a little more out and get the Valentine. I chose the Escort myself.

Mine isn't the very newest one but still works VERY well. Has paid for itself over and over, five times alone on my last summer's 3,000+ mile tour in 6 states. I use the stem stand from these guys too.

Escort X50, velcro'ed on top of air intake, out of sight under right upper panel, enclosed by a "Radar Cover" plastic box and with a 6 led Visual Alert mounted below my windscreen. Visual Alert plugs into the headset connector of the detector and light intensity is adjusted with volume knob. It can be blinding at night.

Your might get by with a warning if the LEO doesn't see your detector.

I have both Escort X50 and Valentine. I hate valentine, t`s huge and not motorcycle friendly.

I would buy THIS one.

I run a earphone extension cord from the detector under the tank with the female end coming out between the seat and tank. I then plug in an earphone cord to the extension and run it under my jacket. Thay way I never have to see the detector and I know what kind of alert it is and how strong the signal.

BusaDale, where'd you get that visual alert piece? That's cool.

I have BEL RX65 w/ ear phone and led light in helmet + Blinder Lazer jammer. You still can be tagged radar only works when the radar gun is on. You can be screwed if they have instant on readings... but any protection is still worth it.

I suggest reading info and blog at www.radarbusters.com

+1 for the Escort X50 and HARD heads up display. Check out radarbusters.com for good prices and great info.

Let's see my radar detector just alarmed, is it the seven eleven doors opening for customers or is it popo ? If it's popo I'm busted.

No radar detection here.

Doors openers using K band, most popos Ka band. IN Escort X50 you can disable K bank if you are so annoyed with false alarms. but the key to get as less as possible false alarms is to stop using cheap detector. Escort is better then Valentive in this .
Check the link I posted earlier, New Escort radar could be programmed to remember door openers ( it`s GPS based) so it wont bother you anymore.

SportRider mag. had a really good article a year or 2 ago on this very thing. They took an R1 and tried all sorts of gear on it. Also had stuff on cloaking. You might be able to search it. Just a thought

I have the Valentine1. IMHO it's the best on the market, and the new units are smaller than the older ones.
