This mod is for the throttle tube to make it a quicker throttle..
I know most of us already have done this mod but for the newer guys heres a mod that dont cost much but makes a big difference for little money..
Instead of having to reposition your grip before wot this mode will help..u dont have to give it a 1/4 turn before wot ..u can either do a 1/5 or a 1/6 for wot..
Most people get the r1, because some say the r6 tube is a bit much..i read several sites because there was alot of guys getting the wrong tube for the r6 mod which was basically same as the r1 tube..
So heres some info on the tubes..
I installed this on a gen1 which i believe will be the same as a gen2..

Stock hayabusa = 1/4 turn to wot

I believe these are both 1/5 to wot
R1 4yr-26240-02-00. I believe o2-04

R6 5sl-26240-01-00. 99- 05 i think are the same..

Now if u want the 1/6 turn its
2c0-26240-00-00.
And thats off a r6 06 anything older is the 1/5 turn instead of the 1/6
Now the 1/6 is about twice the price of the 1/5 turn...
Also on the 1/6 turn throttle tube u will have to do a couple of things to get it to fit but ill walk u threw it..now the 1/5 so they say is a direct replacement...

So heres how to do the 1/6 turn throttle mod...hope this helps someone for a easy install..

This is how i did it
I would start by adjusting the fittings all the way in..

image-2577928200.jpg

And for mine i left them all the way in so your done there..
Next u can take the top adjustment all the way off which will help with installing the larger throttle tube..

image-709064720.jpg

But leave that eye piece in there..
I also unbolted the lines from the frame for more slack on the cables..it helps..

image-1692089758.jpg

Now for that bottom adjustment u need to get that first nut toward the front of the bike then tighten back up..like so

image-1121440787.jpg

Now your done with that adjustment..

Next take the throttle housing off and thats 3 screws
Well 2 screws and one for the cable..
Take old tube off..to install the 1/6 tube u need to cut some off the cable like so..
I used a tube cutter which worked really well be sure not to cut the cable..

image-4051617770.jpg

image-2308984659.jpg

Then i used wire cutters to cut it off..
U must cut this off or when u tighten it up it hits the throttle tube and will not turn..
Next just reassemble the throttle housing not u will have play in the throttle tube if u dont use the plastic spacer..be sure to grease the tube up

image-81028230.jpg

When u put that housing back together it fits in a notch on the handle bars...
Now all thats back together
U need to move that nut on that first adjustment to the other side like so..

image-2681998370.jpg

Notice both nuts are on one side!!

Now put that bracket that holds the cables together back on the frame..
The throttle should snap back fast just like before with out any hangups...
Be sure to turn the bars side to side and watch to see if it pulls the throttle if it does u made need to try to get more adjustment out of something..
Heres the difference in the throttle tubes..

Now the r1 1/5 turn u dont need to cut anything or move that nut to the other side i believe there enough slack in the cable to just adjust everything out as needed..

I can tell alot of difference in the throttle..not much to wot..and it snaps back really fast..but it feels like its a little harder to turn the throttle..but that just might be because of the larger diameter of the throttle tube..

I know i put part numbers up and all but if u want the 1/6 from a r6 be sure its a 06 model and not the r6s because the r6s is a 1/5 turn instead of the 1/6...

Nice write up, really in depth instructions. I'm doing the R1 mod rite now. Heard the R6 throttle was a bit too twitchy for normal riding and in the twisties etc. Should help on the drag strip though

Ya thats what i heard about the r6 throttle mod ..but some seem to like it ..but theres alot of different opinions on the two. Only thing i know is to go wot on the stock throttle tube i have to move my grip again and its really hard on the wrists..this way i wont have to reposition my hand as much..

Thanks, this is a mod I really want to do. You guys be very careful because a hung throttle does suk. 1/4 turn is allot of twist though.

my throttle sucks off to on like when letting off rolling up to a light to turn right and coming almost to a complete stop then turning... is it any smoother from completely off throttle and back on?

Damn i lub you guys... lol. Another mod to do. As you stated , same for gen2???

R1 tube is a direct replacement in a gen 2. The r6 is a little different also. On the second gen you have to take a dremel or something similar and grind part of your housing out. If you take the controls off and just stick the new throttle tube in there you can figure out where you need to grind.

Just wanted to add to this.

I decided to do a comparison of throttle tubes from various bikes. Unfortunately I don't have the stock Hayabusa tube hand so you will have to use your imagination on that. Anyhow, I have thrown in a few other tubes just for comparison sakes. The correct R6 throttle tube to use is listed below.

1985 Kawasaki 750 Turbo - Part# - 46019-1059
2008 Kawaski Ninja 250R - Part# - 46019-0001
2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200R - Part# - 46019-0001
2006 Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R - Part# - 57110-46E01
2004 Yamaha R1 - Part# - 4YR-26240-02-00
2006 Yamaha R6 - Part# - 2C0-26240-00-00

750 Turbo - 31.50mm
Ninja 250R - 36.75mm
Yamaha R1 - 36.80mm
Yamaha R6 - 40.75mm

just did the '04 R1 tube w grip pre-installed $31.00 WORTH IT YES. I did have to move both nuts to one side for mine for the throttle return to function normal. I used the thin spacer and it keeps grip from having side-side slack. It is 1/4" shorter than stock busa so there will be a gap.(paint or black tape over exposed bar if your concerned about looks) Bike is snappier out of the hole and rich w torque now. Your not asking for throttle angle as much - more telepathic now.

Anyone around Los Angeles or within an hour want to help me out if I buy the r1 tube. Gen 2. I have no patience and may break everything lol I will buy lunch and beer lol
