Question regarding fork tubes

My question is: Attached to the inside slider is the cast aluminum bottom which houses the calipers. How are these two pieces joined together? Can the cast bottom be seperated from the slider? If so please advise those who know.

I am confused, are you talking about the Inner Tube, the inner rod/damper rod (cartridge) or ??? ?

I think he is talking about the down leg where it goes into the caliper/axle mount... separating the machined tube from the cast caliper/axle mount assy

I am fairly certain that part cannot be separated via normal methods, and that it is not avail for purchase separately.

Mr. Bogus, if that's true, the exploded diagram shows it's one mated piece and therefore not seperatable without cutting. And that's no easy task, much less being able to reuse it again
