question about the zx-12r

I'm not much on the tech side...But I'm definitely with frisbee on his response...Tear the 12's a$$ up...All I know is that you can see the midrange differance in your mirrors , its about two bike lengths back !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I raced against a friend of mine, he has a 00 12r(unrestricted) he claims he has not made any mods to it. Im riding 02 with no mods at the time(ofcourse mine is restricted) I was beating him on the takeoff but around 130-145mph he kept passing me and staying in front. So then I doubted my riding ability until I got on his bike and he rode mine and then I beat him. Now is this because 1. He has a unrestricted model which is faster than the restricted Busa or 2. Because he is probably lying about mods being done. Since this I have added Yosh RS3 Slip ons plus a TRE, We will be heading to Galveston for a Big Beach Party coming up the weekend of 11/12 April and we are going to race again and see what happens. Thanks for any input
I had the same situation with one of my friends having an unrestricted 12 and me on an 02 Busa...Tore his a$$ up on the regular...Thru all the gears and would run away from him top end...You figure it...
stock busa should whip the zx12 all day. But it comes down to rider experience 100%. You need to learn to launch hard with an aggressive grip, and be HARD on that throttle in 1st, clutch bang shift into 2nd, and clutchless shift into 3rd (just give bike full throttle in second, let up about 20 percent and shift hard, and get back on it FAST! just wrist flick when you clutchless shift and you'll do it smooth)
It ALWAYS comes down to rider experience, and who is more comfortable running their bike hard. Wanna get better? launch hard out of every stoplight you come to. Go hard through 1st and 2nd, and you'll get alot better
The launch is everything. start letting the clutch out at about 5000+rpms and power hard. Once you feel the front tire coming about 2 inches off the ground out of the hole, you're getting it. g00s3 it!

Don't forget to watch for cops, and that last cager trying to beat the red light.
I have ridden my friends twelve and own a Busa.
Unfortunately he has since sold the twelve so we never raced.
They feel so much alike, I too think it comes down to rider ability.
Can't wait to line up with one at the loacal track.
