Pure insanity

cool deal... maybe I can get a great price for my "pre-ban" PW50:thumbsup:

I thought about it myself, and when the dealer told me they have frozen parts sales for all of these small motorcycles........ parting one out may yield higher profit.
I pray public outrage will overturn the quantum stupidity this law is based on.
Lead poisoning from ingesting motorcycle parts...... come on... what are these people going to have banned next? :banghead:

The manufacturers just need to issue a sticker that says For use by riders 12 year old and older"

This is what happens when the liberals take over...you/they wanted change

it's just begining...4 billion to acorn :cheerleader:

good plan :beerchug:

:banghead:

Nope! Acorn was cut in the final bill to only 2 billion. Pocket change.

However, no one knows for sure since the final bill of 1000+ pages was released at midnight and the house vote was scheduled for the following morning.

It's actually our friendly environmentalist who's responsible for getting the small bikes banned. However, you are right, it's only the beginning.

Here in Washington we now have to buy tonnage for our bikes (Minimum $10) when we license them as if they were trucks. :moon:

Another example of a group of people trying to do the right thing and no clue in what they're doing. The end result is that they do more harm than good. Yet they don't see that and probably never will. They're letting fear and assumption run their lives.

They being the people instituting this ban.

This is BS. I've been saving a sweet XR 70 that was both my sons for my grandkids. I've had it with the gov. Crooked bribe taking scumbags every one of them. I'm kicking all their laws to the curb. F em. Lie, cheat + steal it's the american way.

If you want to be political, please go to that category....I'm not referring to the insanity of lead quads, I resent the "liberals" comment, it has no place here and is an insult to org members that consider themselves liberal. Doyle Smith (Raydog)

Sorry for the "inuslt", not intentional. But I don't do politically correct.
I call what it is, exactly what it is. How is calling a liberal, a liberal,
insulting anyway? ???

The thread is complaining about congress passing an idiotic law...just who
do think is in charge now...liberal/democrats. This is exactly the way they think
and exactly what they do, they act/think with emotion from gun laws to
lead in atvs. Republicans want less govt', liberals want more...lots more.

Not trying to jack the tread, I was merely pointing out who is in charge and
how it is going impact every facet and in ways a lot people didn't realize...
and it has just begun.

Don't call me a Conservitive though...I might get offended :banghead:

Motorcycle and ATV components containing lead include lead battery terminals, tire valve stems, fittings and connectors made with brass or copper alloys, brake and clutch levers, throttle controls, engine housings, carburetors made with aluminum alloys, steel fasteners, and frames or structural components made with steel alloys."

ladys and gentleman welcome to socialism. God save our country!:please:

It's not about "politically correct", it's just that it's simply inaccurate to lump all "liberals" into this lunatic group. I have many guns, have had many quads, have motorcycles, am pro law and order, retired cop, USMC Vet....and still have many "liberal" views. To say Repubs want "less government" after the last 8 years is not even worth an argument.
There are extremists on the right AND the left. I think this Country now has a severe need for rational people to learn to discuss differences, eliminate the fringe (like leaded quads!) and have differing ideologies co-exist (we'll never all agree on stuff).

As far as the lead is concerned....the heavy metal in children's toys is a real issue and is the result of poor and short sighted trade agreements with countries that don't seem to do honorable international business. The malfunction occurs when sometimes well intentioned fools in our government lump "all toys" together.....as though we are protecting kids. It's frustrating and ignorant...that's why we have off road vehicle associations (ABATE, etc) and the AMA to call attention to these legislative mistakes. We have to use the system to preserve our collective and individual rights. There will always be people proposing unnecessary and oppressive laws, that's why I feel good sending my 25 bucks to the AMA.
Respectfully, Raydog

Wow, if this had happened when i was a kid, they would have stolen the best memories I ever had.... what a bunch of azzhats... first I have heard of this..

That is so true, I can't imagine removing the incredible thousands of hours of pure fun I've had with my "homies" on 2, 3, and 4 wheeled dirt contraptions) from my past!
What's sad is the potential removal from future generations.

was just thinkin...when there's a will , there's a way...so when the smaller, lower powered, & lighter machines are off the market , I can forsee a great jump in accidents/injuries/fatalities due to kids getting on a full size quad. (can't see one fire up a dirtbike like a yz250 due to the height) then it'll prolly step up to all atvs:poke:

What will stop kids from going out in the garage and chewing on the battery post and engine block of your car, pick up and lawn mowers? Are we going to see a ban on all these?
When will the madness end?
When will common sense return to this country?
Is it gone forever? ???

maybe if unemployment goes double digit, people are lined up for the necessities of life, an nation just trying to survive, this will preoccupy the nut bags that come up with such senseless garbage just so they can justify their jobs...

sort of like unions.. they for the most part outlived their usefulness, so they come up with stuff to justify their own existence...

How about if I said what's up with the narrow minded dim witted conservatives who jumped on the band wagon against the bill because they are so enamoured with the drug addict talking head Limbaugh and not because they can actually think for themselves.

Now, I seriously, don't believe that but it is an example of how lumping all conservatives together could be considered offensive.

You would think there would be an exclusion for motor vehicles.

Just effin swell. Sign me up for lead & life club, poor little effers probably won't be allowed to go fishing next ??? "Bad news is that the kid wrecked the big quad. Good news is that he didn't chew the battery in no 50 ???" I'm beginning to suspect that a little brain damage might help in the future. If I didn't have motorcycles when I was a kid I'd sure not want to be too clear of the fact that it was due to my governments taking care of me  Good old days?

This is nothing more than a power play to deter sales of cheap chinese imports like KYMCO in order to protect other established brands. These Chinese brands are quickly gaining marketshare in the small bike market. I doubt that this legislation will stand very much longer.
