Preparing to be Done For The Year.

Well, I put the call in this morning to the local Honda dealership to reserve a storage spot for the Beast. The weather has turned pretty cold and the crappy weather seems to be making an early move on us this year. Last year I stored at the local Kawi/Duc/BMW dealership but didn't drop it off until the end of the first week of November as we had a pretty decent fall. The change of storage is due to the Honda shop opening in the past year and it is much more convenient to my house as opposed to the Kawi dealer which was close to my work (that laid me off a week and a half ago). Always a sad time putting the bikes away for another winter as it seems like I just picked it up (first week of April). Used to be I would store it at home in the garage when I had a double but my current house only has a single and I like to have the Nissan inside during the snowy months. Ahhhh well, an excellent summer or riding, when it wasn't raining, and can't wait for next year that might (or might not) include an RCC turbo. First though, I will think about what cool Busa parts I can ask Santa to put under the tree this Xmas....

Gotta do what you gotta do. You can't dictate the weather. Sounds like you had a good riding season this year. Now it's time to look ahead and get ready for next Spring :beerchug:
We'll be here.

Do you have an off season in North Carolina? I am guessing not.....where is the dividing line in the northern/southern states in relation to storage vs. ride all year around?

Think that's more a rider to rider issue. I know people that live in SC that store for the winter and I know people that live here in KY that ride year round.

Starting to get a little cold here 50' in the mornings, By November to February very little snow here in the Central part of the state low's mid 20's high of 40's rare to reach 50'. But if it's DRY 45'-50' I have COLD gear Ski jacket Gloves, Longjohns I'm stilling Riding those months.

Indeed, a sad but true story about a man, his motorcycle and their battle with Mother Nature.

Time to break out the snowmobiles!!! :cheerleader:

Yeah I agree. But if I had to draw a line I'd say it would be middle of VA. For me at least. I don't enjoy riding w/ frozen fingers and feeling like my face is going to crack. Even here in Raleigh I foresee it being difficult to get a decent ride in between Dec-Feb. But this will be my 1st season here w/ a bike. So we shall see. It was upper 60's for a couple days around X-mas here last year. I played golf w/ my Dad

Yeah buddy

I think last week was my last week of riding to work. It was high 30's in the morning ride then warmed to about 60. This past Monday I was all set to ride and went outside to a balmy 27 degrees :banghead:

I hope to get a few more days during the weekend though.

Sorry about the job, have you ever considered storing it on stands in front of the cage ? You guys are putting those babies up early. Weather has turned crappy here too. 60 degree weather with nothing but nasty rain.

Since it's your first season, just remember that when that pavement gets cold and the tires are cold things get slick with the Busa. Be safe and enjoy your winter rides. I ride year round, gets tough some times. Gear up for it and remember what cold roads can do for ya.

Thanks, I actually got laid off on a temporary basis in July but we were supposed to be recalled at the end of August and then at the start of October. No go as business didn't improve enough and company is now downsizing across the country.

My single isn't wide enough with the way the doorway into the house is placed right in the middle so the bike would have to go front to back. No room that way either as I already have a snowblower in the garage on the right side so if I had the Busa on the left we wouldn't be able to get into the house! Doh!

Hopefully I will be able to get some more riding in as the weather is supposed to go above 10C on Sunday and into next week, fingers crossed.:please:

Hope you get some decent weather. The stands really make a difference as far as footprint.

Thanks Robert, I appreciate that.

I have ridden in the cold before. Just not in here in NC and not aboard Ripley. And your right...in the cold, w/ her power, she will demand some extra caution.

Yeah, I've had a rear stand for a few years now as my kids love sitting on my bikes and keeping it straight upright is certainly safer and uses less space.

Maybe I should ask Santa for a triple garage!!!!!

I figured you knew but just in case I had to throw that in. Besides others might read this and store the thought away.

One thing to consider adding to that equation is elevation. The western (read mountainous) part of the state will have more snow and ice then the coast lower areas. I rode all but 2 months of my first year, all but 3-4 last year and most likely this year I will be putting the bike up even earlier. I may ride here and there on sunny days but with focus switching to track riding all the road stuff I would have to deal with just doesn't seem worth it.

I was wondering if you ever entertained the thought of a storage building. They make them now with electrical outlets and all. I think it would be worth the investment depending on how much storing at the dealership will cost you. I have even seen some storages made out of plastics before.

This one runs $1160

I would except that my backyard is pretty much taken up with a halfpipe for skating! We have lots of wheeled hobbies at our house.
