its not flash, but it is an imperfection in the casting. Wouldn't worry about it at all.

It looks like a flash,i doubt that it is anything serious but at 100 plus who needs to think about that.

They all look like that. If you are really concerned about the "look" you can always pony up for a billet sprocket carrier. No imperfections in those.
