Has anyone ever clearcoated over a polished aluminum part? I have an aftermarket chainguard that is polished aluminum, When i rub it out it looks great for a few days then gets dull again. I wonder if anyone has had any experience with clearcoating such a part? Is this even possible?

I won't say it can't be done, but how, I have no idea. If you clean off the part to clearcoat it, it will lose it's shine. If you clear over the polish, the clear won't stick.
I've polished a bike...once, never again, too much work to keep looking good. If you really like the part, have it chromed, you'll thank yourself...many times.:beerchug:

no matter what you do clear wont stick to any bare metal surface for long. It is made to adhere to basecoat with a interlocking chemical reaction.
