polished aluminum ?

Has anyone ever clearcoated over a polished aluminum part? I have an aftermarket chainguard that is polished aluminum, When i rub it out it looks great for a few days then gets dull again. I wonder if anyone has had any experience with clearcoating such a part? Is this even possible?

I won't say it can't be done, but how, I have no idea. If you clean off the part to clearcoat it, it will lose it's shine. If you clear over the polish, the clear won't stick.
I've polished a bike...once, never again, too much work to keep looking good. If you really like the part, have it chromed, you'll thank yourself...many times.

Yeah that stuff works good, but you'll still have to repolish, just not as often.

no matter what you do clear wont stick to any bare metal surface for long. It is made to adhere to basecoat with a interlocking chemical reaction.

Yea Buddy, to clear coat (as in powder coat) aluminum works and works well
