So here is what I am having trouble figuring out. I have had my 2000 busa for a year and a half and even in the Texas summer heat, she never overheated. I have had water wetter in the cooling system all summer and again, no problems. What gives?
On Tuesday morning I was on my way to work (I have drove the bike for the past 3 weeks to work, same route everyday) and I am sitting as a stop light and she starts getting a little warm. I start moving and she cools back down real quick. I get to the next red light, my heart pounding from the rapid needle movement, and I shut it off. I start it up and as soon as I start moving, bam, right back to the middle mark.
Tuesday night, I tear it down, flush all the coolant (3 times with distilled water) and fill her back up with Engine Ice. I follow the manual on the burping procedure, run her a few miles, and think everything is great. With the Engine Ice, it was staying below the middle mark. Better than the water wetter.
I couldn't drive to work yesterday because of weather, but I was ready to go this morning. I hop on the bike and she is running perfect. I get to the same set of stop lights, and the needle starts to creep. The fan kicks on and I start moving (green light). Everything looks fine again. The next stop light I had to shut her down. This time there was a little white smoke cloud forming around me. I fire her up and bam, she is below the middle mark again. I get her to work, all cooled off, and the overflow tank is empty....Yes empty.
I am lost, what changed. Why now when it is only 55 degrees outside. I am lost.
Someone please help....???
