I'm no gear head but I'm learning quickly. I ordered the Pair Valve Removal kit from Brocks and spent the afternoon removing this piece of excess junk from the bike. It provided an great insight into various parts of the motor that I may never have seen and gave me the opportunity to clean as well. The instructions from Brocks were simple and very explicit. I found tilting the radiator and removing the fan from it's mounting was the key to getting bigs hands in small places. The biggest problem was removing the valve from behind the pipes which I achieved by removing the oil filter. It took me forever and other than losing some dead weight and providing better air flow to the motor it's also a step toward the turbo I have promised myself. I just want to offer some encouragement to those, who like I did, think these bikes have to go to a dealership to get anything done.
