IIRC this is a members bike. He was saying that he dropped the rear tire to about 10psi, and the tire grabbed more than he expected.
 
I'm fairly certain he had some sort of boot on. In the classes he was racing in, there are stringent safety requirements.

And yes, he is/was a member of the busa boards.
 
If I had to guess (and I do) I'd say that the tail section gave way and he slid off the back of the bike, ripping the throttle wide open (causing the flip + airtime) then the double bubble broke off when it came over and hit the back of his helmet.

Is there video of this anywhere?


Old post but it still gives me the shivers... thinking about the repair bill!

Hmm... I'm thinking possible frame damage on this one. Repair or replacement? ???

IIRC the damage was minimal, relative to him breaking a bone in his foot from the skid. (I think)
