Open port in Gen 1 airbox?

Hey everyone,

I had my bike apart for a valve shim, and while reinstalling the airbox I noticed a 1/2 inch or so hose fitting toward the front bottom that has no apparent purpose. It's not for the PAIR valve. (already have that one plugged)

So, in my finite wisdom I decided to put a vacuum cap on the little bastard so the ram-air effect will keep on ramming, so to speak. Now I'm beginning to wonder just what it was for in the first place.

Could it be to let out any built-up ingested rainwater?

To allow bugs to escape?

An inspection port for calibration of the thermonuclear turbo encabulator???

Or perhaps I have discovered a free mod so powerful that I am destined to loop my Busa in the driveway!

I feel that plugging errant holes in the airbox is a good thing, but maybe this one has a purpose.

Any helpful comments are welcome. Any appropriate smartassery is tolerated!

Thanks!

Thanks Ken!

That's rather less interesting than I had hoped.

I guess I'll go take the cap back off...............:duh:
