well, that probably would have been the easiest way but i'm always up for learning something new...never had to do it this way before and now i'm ready for the next time

Some of the higher end screw extraction kits have left handed drill bits. With the torque we are talking about the bolt normally comes out when drilling the pilot hole for the extractor bit.
