ok to change front tire only?

Hiya guys. I found that my front tire is bald but the rear is very good. Is it ok to buy just a new front or do i need to replace both like the bike shop recommends? Thanks!

Lots of people change single tires on bikes.I prefer both but if one is good and one is bad, replace the one.I would match them but dont know if that matters really.

Both fresh will feel the best, but 1 is perfectly fine. Just remember new tires are a lil slick
