First of all, sorry I haven't been around in a while. I've been in a mental funk and all, and just haven't kept up with things much lately. Burned out on work, and on not having much of a social life because of work, and life in general. Got pretty depressed for a while, but things are looking up a little now. Just a low in life, I guess. They come along occasionally.
Anyway, I've come to the point that I miss the crap out of my 10R. It's not due to any shortcomings of the 636. It's an awesome bike, indeed. It's just that I've come to learn that I prefer a litre bike over a 600. To be honest I can't even really put into words why I feel that way. Anyone that has rode a 6 and a litre will know the differences and may understand. It's not the power. The 636 has plenty of power for how I ride. Maybe it's in the power delivery. God knows a litre puts it down differently even if you only use the same amount. Maybe it's the torque. I don't know. All I know is I want back on a litre...
So, looks like I'll be paying for another expensive arse lesson by selling the 636 to buy another litre. Won't be the first time I've taken a hosing to straighten out a mistake I made in buying a toy I thought would be exactly what I wanted only to find out that it isn't.
Probably won't be the last expensive lesson either.
Anyway, when the 636 sells I'll be deciding between another '04-'05 10R, an '06 10R (they are bringing BLACK back!!!
, or a '05 or '06 gixxer 1k. As much as I loved Diablo I'm obviously leaning toward another 10R, but I'd like to score a ride on an '05 gixx before I make my final decision just to give it a fair chance. It had my interest performance/handling wise when it came out but the looks had to grow on me. Now I think the gixx is super sweet lookin'. Go figure.
So, if there's anyone who would like to say "I told you so.", or "I knew it." go ahead and get it off your chest. You were right. The 636 is super fuggin' schweet, and plenty of bike for the street, but I've pretty much decided that it's just not for me.
