Oil leak

So I went back to my friends house to Make sure his crashed bike was still running ok... As I posted in the salvageable thread the oil cooler did take a hit so I put some grease sweep down and filled it with a few quarts of oil just to fire it up for a second and check the motor.

This morning I noticed it leaked some oil out of the small hole in the stator cover. I have 0 experience in bike internals, but isn't that side supposed to be dry?

I can't take it apart till the settlement is complete but any advise? Is this major?

Oil under the stator cover. Normal.
That it is leaking, not normal!

Could be and probably is as simple as a bad o-ring/gasket, or a damaged cover. Just check it good to make sure the case isn't damaged.

The stator cover is probably toast. They are very delicate from the factory. They are wet, especially when on the stand.
