I know what you mean, Greg.  I was watching the football game last night, and waited for the news to come on for a story they were reporting on that I wanted to see.

After the news, Jay Leno came on and his first guest was Ashlee Simpson.  After much discussion about, and unabashed ogling of, her cleavage, which she proudly displayed,  I thought, "How stupid is that?"

I had to turn it off and go back to my satellite dish and good old soft core porn......

But seriously, the stuff that broadcast TV has to do to try to compete with cable and satellite ends up turning human brains to goo.  It it truely pathetic and as the maitre d' in "Ferris Buller's Day Off" quipped - "I weep for the future"

The reason Paris Hilton is deemed news worthy is because of the vast amount of money she is projected to inherit.
Her family predecessors built a giant hotel chain. and made billions of dollars.
So as the heir to this fortune,she is widely admired by the trailer park, welfare collecting leeches in our society and there #'s are increasing each day.
So as they sit in front of the Boob Tube ( Television)
They are bombarded with marketing ploys ( commercials)
that direct them as to how to spend their goverment stipends ( Welfare checks) .
I hope this clears up your question, and don't worry if you attack our plant and win, they will suck you dry too.
