my odometer is not counting. It has the number of miles present and it is lite. The rest of the console is fine. Possible issues?

i would say you need a new speedo (or its inlay),

because i expect this special piece - the odo - is not available alone.

suzuki offers the inlay as one piece
look for no. 34120-24F70 for gen 1 from ´01-´07
or
for no. 34120-15H10 / 34120-15H00 for gen 2 from ´08-´12 (where they differ - no clue)
or
for no. 34120-15H20 for ABS - gen 2 from ´13-´20

In ye 'ole days, I would've said a small gear or cog in the speedo is stripped.
But I havn't had the need to pull any of the newer clusters apart.

Might be the cable from the front wheel to the ....
These "electronic" things these days. Very frustrating. :banghead:
Just a guess but its within the cluster,a part of the LCD circuitry. The signal from the counter shaft sprocket which sends the signal to the gauges is working, because the speedometer is functioning normally. So my guess is it is something from that signal to the odometer display. Close inspection of the circuit there might reveal something. There are companies that specialise in repairing modern guages. I had an' Audi TT Roadster where the guages all went goofy. EX: put on the turn sig...no turn sig would work, but the fuel gauge would click back and forth like a turn indicator. Huge dolla for a replacement. Sent the cluster to a company, they repaired a tiny cold solder joint...wala...fixed for 150 bucks. If I was MR. C I would start to research that option...but I think he will end up needing a new/used cluster.

@MisterC do the trip meters function normally?
Rubb.

Thanks for your thoughts. The trip meter do not work neither. I will probably try another cluster. But where is the cable that goes to the wheel. I do not see it. Do you have a pic or schematic for that gen 1?

Sorry man, that was a lame joke. Old bikes used to get a speedo reading from a cable from front wheel to speedometer. I was just chuckin' shi7 with my buddy @ottafish . Appologies. :p

download it and read - 99.5 % of all your present and future questions will be answered

give a word + a number as gen 1 or 2 and i guess rubb will help you with a link.
