Obama threatened

So I guess if you got a job and the predecessor left it a mess, after 4 1/2 months, you should be fired if you hadn't completely cleaned it up. I am upset about the way things have been going but I am reserving my judgement until a little later.

I am pissed over the GM fiasco but his work with the Middle East shoud be commended, especially if it brings our boys home in the near future. There is still a lot to be seen.

+1 on the Middle East, and the efforts to keep the U.S. auto industry afloat shouldn't be confused with an effort to permanently have the government own it. The government has no interest in being in the automotive business, and plans to sell the stock as soon as the company is fully viable. That's not socialism, it's aid to a company that needs it critically. There are many people out of work because of the slimming down of GM, but it's only the tip of a disastrous iceberg compared the company collapsing. Many people don't agree that we should be helping GM, but Presidents Bush and Obama agree that we should, and there's not much those two agree on.

Seriously, everybody uses the words socialism and communism like some kind of scare tactic. Get over it already is what I say. Of course with the majority of this country a product of the cold war it will take a few more generations to drop the stigma.
Socialism in the form of universal health care is a good thing and this county sure can afford it. The problem is caused by the (HMO/private healthcare) lobbyists being paid big bucks to suppress the idea.

"Socialism in the form of universal health care is a good thing??":rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Yeah, the government has done a great job so far with everything else they run! Sorry, but personally I don't want the government running the health care system. Geez, we think it's bad now! No thanks! ???

Amen, brother. That's why I'm so very much against it. In 5 years watch what GM has become. Everyone will see then.

btw, they caught the guy who threatened Barack.

Come on Guys, look  at it another way

Joe Joe :cookoo: would then be our PRESIDENT

So, things could get worse

 sure thing.... ask the Canadians we deal with daily about that one.. need health care? take a number, call us in a few months, the committee will decide if you really need the treatment or if it is worth the money cause we think you might die in the next 10 years..

Yea the healthcare system needs work but socialized? I am glad I work in the industry, (insider benefits may turn out to be worth a few $$ when people can not get in to see a Dr for a couple months)

You can't argue with someone who has actually EXPERIENCED socialized health care. Thanks for your input, Mr. Bogus. Is our health system in need of repair? Absolutely, but socialized health care is a knee-jerk reaction that we CANNOT afford (not sure why people say we CAN afford this...have they not seen our deficit????).

I'm a Canadian you deal with.
See that scar?

That was a stage 3 melanoma that was on my head.

My country, CANADA, My goverment, my CANADIAN goverment, my CANADIAN healthcare, paid for the removal, the chemo, the interferon, and the year I had to take off work.

I don't have private health care insurance.
My country, my CANADA saved my life.

Didn't cost me a dime.
No questions asked.

I didn't have to wait.

Will your goverment do that for the 42 million uninsured in America? Pay for the chemo pay for the interferion, pay for the operations, pay for the rent, the bills?

My country, my Canada, would have cared for me if I was a bum under a bridge.

Mr. Bogus, if you were a bum under a bridge would your goverment have given a damn about you if you had cancer?

Well...
Would they?

cheers

This is what I am talking about. The positive aspects of Universal health care. Rev 6.whatever prefers to scare people away from ever even having that option.
Rev.. I have benefitted from Social medicine. When I was stationed in England during the 90's, I could take my young ex-wife into the local "surgery" to be sorted out if she had an issue.
In the states, you can't even get a prescription without paying into the corrupt and greedy private system.
In an advanced and wealthy society such as the USA, a country which happens to be the world's no.1 in terms of overall wealth, it is a travesty that we don't take care of our people because of the greed of capitalism and political influence of multi-billion dollar private health industry. Furthermore, there are private health care organizations in the UK and other socialized countries for those wealthy enough to take that choice.
Rev, You choose to focus on your negative readings in whatever right wing newspaper at hand. Choose to focus on all the negativity spouted by your anti-obama social group. One day you'll be too old or senile to realize that the "medicare" system you benefit from is a socialist program. :moon:

Thanks for sharing that, Ken. I'm glad it worked out so well :beerchug:.

I've heard other Canadian members that are not so enthralled, as there are U.S. citizens that feel both ways. There are no absolutes and any system will have some problems, but Ken illustrates that the Canadian system can work extremely well.

It's interesting that you say the USA happens to be the world's no.1 in terms of overall wealth, yet everyone is really quick to wanna "fix that". We didn't get to be the great county that we are, because we tried to be like some other country (no offense to Canadians or anyone else). Ken, I'm glad your situation worked out well. Cancer is no joke, and that's awesome that you were healed.

I think more than anything I just get tired of hearing the same tired argument that the US NEEDS to do this and NEEDS to do that. The more we allow the government to grow and change the design of our forefathers, the more likely it will end up running us rather than us running it. You know that thing called tyranny. It's not intended to create fear, it's intended to caution us against repeating what history has shown us in the past.
