Well two of my friends bought new Busa's (1 red and 1 blue). I told them about the addiction to high speed and the need for a radar detector.

The blue one got bagged @104mph and the red one @45mph in a 25mph school zone.

Mr Blue got off by showing a correctional officer badge and a story he was late to work.

Mr Red was lucky to be stopped by a Police officer whose car he just worked on.

They both got away with a warning.

Mr Red purchased a Escort Passport 7500 and needs a good earphone /headset any suggestions?

Yea, well those detectors are great if you don't live in a state where they are illegal like myself (VA). I've been fortunate so far. I do have a Valentine for those out of state trips.

I remember someone posting a device that would allow you to hear any radar detector without a helmet speaker.
I, like yourself, have the AutoCom unit and it works great with the Valentine 1, CD-AM/FM player, and cell phone. I would like to install a transceiver but the problem is that no one has established a dedicated frequency for motorcycles.

The interesting thing about everyone getting radar detectors is when the thing goes off 8 out 10 times the cop is just about right there. Well when you going 140-160mph in a 55-65 zone what the hell good does it do to hit the brakes? (Thruthfully) Around were I live if your going over 120-130mph the copy will 9.9 out of 10 times just flash his lights at you. If you in the 100 range or less he will pull you over. So if your at 140 and hit the brakes and slow down to 80-100 the damn cop is going to come after you. This is around were I live at least.

Don't leave home without it. The amplified helmet speakers distributed by Collett and sold by aerostich.com work great with the V1. About $30. They also sell cords and junction boxes so you can incorporate an MP3 player or Walkman. The speakers work with earplugs too.

Slowhand, I received mail from 2 people on 2/23 and replied to both. If you received a reply from me you're on the email list for the radar-audio set up. It's difficult to identify people when they don't use their screen name.

KawAbuser, you have mail.

Larry just to let you know those who saw the pocket stand at Daytona were impressed.

Great product and I am sure we will see a similar devotion to quality in your radar kit.

Roberto & Kawabuser,

I was the person that mentioned the audio device that would allow you to hear your radar detector without the use of ear phones. Prototypes have worked fine with Escort type detectors and some others. This product is still in the final development stage. It would be helpful if you guys could tell me what detectors you are using by replying to this thread. Might make the installation kit a little easier to deal with.

Also, if you have further interest in this product send email along with the type of detector you own to SJLproducts@ix.netcom.com. I'll let you know when the product becomes available. I'll also be looking for some product testers at some point.

GSXRBOY, The detectors are just like any other tool. A really good one like the Valentine 1 can save you over and over, but you have to use common sense and learn how to use it. Slapping on a detector doesn't suddenly make you invisible or invulnerable.

Sometimes you only get a few seconds of warning, sometimes several minutes. With the V 1 there is usually time to slow down. If not, you picked the wrong place to open it up.

My V 1 saved me and my group twice in one day last week. One was a simple 85 in a 55 zone when the detector picked up the cop around a blind corner. I had about 3 seconds warning, and it was enough.
The second was a textbook example of the vast superiority of the V 1 over the others. I ran both Escort and Bel's top units before I wised up.
We came out of a parking lot at a little place called Santa Ysabel. It's a donut stop for cops, so radar activity is common. The V 1 showed radar activity behind me, which was no biggie. I had just opened it up on the straight when I noticed that I was now getting a reading from the front. Slowed from about 80 to 65, and passed a cop going in the opposite direction tucked up close to a Ryder rental truck. Followed his progress from front to rear on the V 1, opened up the Busa, then noticed that the detector was picking up another cop in front of me, in addition to the one behind. The highway in front was absolutely clear of vehicles for almost a mile. I believed the V 1 and slowed down. Half a mile ahead,a cop was parked 30 feet off the pavement completely screened by a small tree and some bushes. The V 1 not only warned me about the cops, but showed me how many and where they were, even when they couldn't be seen. That one would have been a 100mph plus ticket.

Don't tell me that a detector like the V 1 doesn't work.

Highpower, I sent you an e-mail on 2-23-2000 expressing interest in the radar accessory. Obviously I have a Valentine 1. I would be willing to test, if you want. If you can't find my e-mail, I'll send again.

SlowHand, Well I think you sold me! I'll have to pick one up and try it out. It sounds like it is pretty wild. The only one I've ever had would be like the Bell and by the time the damn thing beeped the cop was within eye site!

Larry, as mentioned in previous conversation I would like to take a look at your new offering for the radar detector. Currently using the best (the V1), I have a friend Mr Red, with a new Passport w/earphone jack that I could offer feedback on as well.

Please keep me informed,

Thanks Michael
