Newbie question : Front brake lever

Just took delivery of my first 2000 Hayabusa last night. Took it for a short ride at 10:30m pm and loved it ! What an awesome bike. It's my 5th bike in 5 years ( I know it's an obsession now for me!).

Quick question: I noticed the front brake lever had to travel about an inch before the front brake engaged. As I am used of ABS braking on my previous BMW, is this normal with the Hayabusa ?. If not how do I adjust it to make it tighter ?

Wow! That is a looker. Adjust brake lever position, make sure it's bled, and next get some steel braided lines for front.

As the others said, try adjusting your lever first, if that does not help you... then bleed the brakes, if that does not work then change the brake pads... they might be worn out!
