New Owner of a Hayabusa!!!

Wow,

First of all I would like to start out by saying what a great site! I have been visiting the site as a guest for the past month. It's totally responsible for my new baby busa!!! I now realize, even though I've been riding for 7 yrs, I never really owned a real bike until now. I have owned every dirt bike you can imagine, and just made my upgrade from an EX-500 Kawasawki to the Busa, God, what a difference!

I am so ready to modify the bike. I have already purchased and recieved the Street Racer Illumiglo Gauges. That leads me to my 1st question:

a. Are these easy to install? Im not the most handy person in the world, but am really wanting to become a mod specialist. I really don't want anyone else working on my baby if I can do it and save cost. It came with directions, but they are universal. It basically states , "you may or may not have to do this or that according to the type of bike you own". I would really prefer to hear from someone that knows or has installed the gauges, Im nervous about getting myself into a project and it taking me forever to finish, thus taking time away from me riding.

b. I also want to install the Hayabusa Top Gun Undertail Kit. I found one at secondlook.com for my limited 04 color matched for $265.00. Is this a good price? Is this project easy as some say, or is it really a kick in the ass?

c. I would also like to install a powercommander. Is this logical for a stock bike? Will it have any effect on the power of the bike all stock?

d. Last but not least: Slip-on's....Are these just for looks, or do they create more power? How much more power does the full system give? Easy to install?

Sorry for the long post, but as you can imagine Im so pumped. Im sure I've asked question that have been answered before, and if so, please direct me to the post.

Hope to hear from you soon!

slip ons are for looks full system saves weight and adds power PC3 is a must and I have a feeling you will be seeing me sooner than you think for work to be done

dunno bout the gauges, undertail is ok, PC not needed stock, slip on for sound primarily-- look at dynos for full exhaust.

Welcome to the board

1. a) Don't know, I have stock guages, but after you put them in post some pics!!!

b)You can get the undertail for around $220-$230, try some of the sponsors at this site like CSC, they offer discounts. You'll have to check though, things change. It is easy to install, you need a dremel(to cut plastic), maybe some electrical connectors. You can do this yourself.

c)PC on stock, no advantage that I know. They're good when you've modifyied the exhaust(full system) and/or airbox. A TRE will remove the 186mph restriction and help with off idle jerkiness.

d)Slip-ons, all looks and noise. No real hp gain for slip-ons. Full system's can gain(depends on which one) 12-14hp(thats with a PC). Full system's are easy if the headers line up nice, if they don't it will be a pain in the a$$. My yoshi full system was easy, lined up great.

what they said...

And if you wanna check anyone to really help your Busa flow, J.Cheese is the man. Stick with him, and you should be fine.

BTW...welcome to the site.

Welcome,
Post pictures of the guages when you get them.

I have the D&D slip-on, got a deal too good to pass up. Did not want the single exhaust look, I really like the dually look. I know you can get aftermarket dual exhaust.
I am very happy with the slip-ons.

Welcome to the board and way to just jump right into those mods! Haven't put the illumiglo gauges on but understand it to be relatively painless. Does not require the removal of the stock needles as they fit over the top of the stock gauges. Second Look Extreme is a good place to get that TG undertail, but you may want to look at the UFO undertail from <a href="http://www.18889chrome.com">Custom Sportbike Concepts<a> (one of the site sponsors). They also carry the TG undertail but as was said you can get a discount as a board member. The PC3 (R or USB) is not a necessity, but can smooth out some of the jerkiness at the low end. JohnnyCheese is our resident expert on the performance mods, so if money allows I would listen to him. Slip-ons are a look and sound thing despite manufacturer's suggestions. If there is a gain it is minimal. I too am a dual exhaust (Gaw) kind of person and like the slip-ons.

Whoa Whoa Whoa!!! SLIP-ONS ARE NOT FOR LOOKS!!!! Your all High... THEY ARE FOR SOUND!!!! Damn... Everyone sleeping round here...

Slip ons will give you a good sound that is about it, maybe a couple of HP, nothing you'll notice. But they are less expensive to install and it only takes about 15 minutes. If your going to get a full system don't forget to get a PCIIIUSB along with them, JC has em in stock right now.

Otherwise, I would say leave the mods the hell alone for a few thousand miles and simply ride that thing... Then decide what it needs.

Welcome to the board man... Have fun.

welcome to the most awesome source of busa information around, alot of nice people around here with alot of knowledge about this bike. I think the first thing to do is get an ivan tre and then go from there... good luck and ride safe...

Welcome aboard to the board!! I'm putting my gauges on order tomorrow...They say install is extremely simple and painless..I think like a 20 minute deal. Post lots of pics, these great people here feed on pics...any pics( no nudity please).

Slip-ons..good! Full system...great! Need PC with full system install just like the last 10 posts say.

Any questions are welcome...Don't forget to check the search engine on the site first though, you'll more than likely find your answer if you look..

Ride safe and have fun!

Dan
