Decided to have new chrome callipers fitted with some braided lines amongst other things, the rear maste cylinder decided it would be a good idea to seize the rear calliper on while going down the motorway with no hard shoulder to pull over on, had to carry on and it set the rear disc on fire it got that hot which set the rear hugger on fire. managed to put the fire out before it ate my bike while ruining a set of alpinestar gp pro gloves and getting a hell of a burn on my thum when i touched the disc, it burnt my skin through to the bone, well i wasn't going to let the bike burn away now was i after spending a few hundred on it a matter of 10 minutes before.

im sorry to hear about that glad to hear it didnt get worse. mabey she realized she was on the wrong side of the road and was trying to tell you to stop...

I read on here a member carries a fire extinguisher I am looking for one small enough to fit tomorrow:thumbsup: Never thought I would hear someone who needed it. But just like a gun it's better to have an not need it than need it an not have it.

Man, glad you are OK. What caused the caliper to lock up, as I would be headed right back to the shop that installed them demanding they make it right.

glad to hear you were able to ride through it and didn't go down but i would be headed back to the shop also

Cheers to everyone. not sure what caused it to seize, by the time i got it home and stripped the calliper all the seals had melted so not sure what caused it. have spoke to the shop and he's already agreed to replace everything that's being damaged. i'm deffinatly going to look for a small fire extinguisher to keep under the seat from now on.

I'd have been gutted if the bike would have gone up, it's so close to being finished, all that's left to do is the paint job and get the fire damage repaired now.

look at the state of the disc and the rear hugger

Yea, I'd say you cooked that one!

Sorry to hear of the setback. Cringing at the thoughts of how badly that could have ended. Minus the thumb, glad to hear you're okay.

Well, that's one way of breaking you of that nasty thumb sucking habit! :poke:
