Geez..Made me very sad to her about this....Gotta give major credit to the crews to get on that "AWSOME" machine.
Busa is a moped in comparison..to enter the atmosphere at a mind blowing 12,500 mph.. Godspeed..

Very bad for the crew and very bad for space flight. Sometimes good things may come out of all this. Space flight with the Shuttle is 20 years behind todays technology. Let's hope we move on.

I know that this may be reaching just a bit, but it's a possibility. Could this incident be terrorist related? I know that the news has said "NO" and some reports are still inconclusive, but there is a lot of irony that surrounds this tragedy. Just check this out. 1.) This is the first time in NASA flight history that there was an incident involving the descent of a spacecraft. 2.) This is fairly close to the anniversary of the Challenger explosion in 1986. 3.) One of the crew onboard the Columbia was an Israeli.

I know that this may seem to be reaching or far fetched, but it is possible. By no means is the war against terrorism over or won. We cannot rule out anything. I was watching a Dateline show on the other night and they were doing a segment on how easy it is for anyone (that includes terrorists) to come into our country. I don't know about you all, but I don't have much faith in National Security for the U.S. Just my .02.

A PRAYER for the families, friends, and loved ones who are currently in mourning over this tragedy.

The interesting thing was the home video showing red out the back. The red indicates that the fuel was burning even thiugh no engines are used.

Sorry to hear about the horrible accident and lost of you rfellow Americans. It was a brave thing that those people were doing. I just want to let you know I'll be praying for their friends and family. And hopefully these sad events will come to an end sooner, than later.

They had a former shuttle astronaut on today and he mentioned that looking out the window on re-entry , the leading edge of the wings (as far back as he could see) was covered in pulsating red/orange superheated pulsating plasma action. Kinda like a fighter in a high G manuver on a humid day. maybe thats what was showing.

I believe this is simply the failure of out dated equipment...At this point no speculation of terrorism from me...However, I would like to make a point of #3 of your post Israeli...I don't think the finger should be pointed at anyone at this stage no one has any idea what could have or did happen...If that is a position then I would submit that all members of the crew were potential suspects of any sabotage effort...Terrorism is supported by others in society and not solely people of Middle Eastern descent...Just my 2 cents...

Time will heal, but the time that has to pass to get to that point will not be easy. Our prayers are with the familys and people that are in such pain at this time.

Go with God Columbia and Godspeed... You were our first and you will be missed.

The reason I brought this issue up is because of what's going on around us in the world today. I was only pointing to some of the irony surrounding this tragedy. Only time will tell what effect Homeland Security will have on putting an end to any type of threat from outsiders. Does anyone honestly think that government will tell us (if they can keep it secret) if a tragedy such as this was terrorist related? Hell NO! The effects of 9/11 are still too fresh in our minds and faith in our government, which in turn provides for our protection, will slowly start to diminish. Just my .02
