I made a roll cage/brush guard for my Dad's 4-wheeler. It's got a roof and is made of bent steel tubing. The entire project took about 9 hours and about 60 bucks in materials. Next to come is powder coating. I ran it through a huge sticker bush earlier and didn't get snagged even once!

Be careful, roll-cages are meant for vehicles with harnesses. If that thing does roll and your Dad gets tossed, that cage could come down on top of him.
