i let my friend use my bike and well going around a u shaped turn someone coming the other way took it to wide running my friend into the gravel laying it down then hitting the embankment and going into a canal full of water which helped it all it needs is all the body work to be replaced headlight and tank so i was wondering if shark skinz are good for stock replacements or should i stick with the stock fairings?

From  What I have seen the seat skins are pretty ugly.  IMHO they just look nappy.

Sorry to hear about your bike bro.  I learned years ago never to let ANYONE ride your baby unless they have similar experiance on a similar bike.  Even then I am on pins and needles till it gets back in one piece.

Wait you said Shark Skins? Replacement body work? Uh, I dunno about them, I know Airtech is supposed to make some good stuff...

All depends on what you want. Airtech also makes plastic for the busa. But in most cases you are gonna have to pay to have it painted. If you want the factory look, buy it through any number of discounters you can find in the back of most motorcycle mags. If you were thinking about customizing the paint--i'ld buy it off ebay and then have the painters do whatever minor repair work might be called for, or shark skinz and customize....

Think of it as an excuse to begin a new customization project and it may ease the pain...

I had an idea the other day for making fairing protection, like some type of clear durable plastic so that you can cover up the painted surface and still let it who through, and so that if you go down, you mess up the plastic covers instead of the painted parts, can anyone think of a material to use?? Lately i have been worried about going down.

Would be nice if there was a material clear enough. something that would not yelow etc. otherwise it would be like plastic slip covers on your furniture.

he's fine he got away with a few bruises and he is going to pay for all the replacement parts i think i want after market so i can have it painted some other color just not sure who makes good replacments so thanks for the info

I think lexan is the most obvious choice to what your thinking about.. .. it's pretty easy to work with.. plus it's not all that expensive.. If it's thick enough it would be pretty tough stuff..

as far as not yellowing.. i kept your stuff inside it'd be cool.. for 3-4 years anyways

my buddy has his bike coated with this Rhino truck lining.......he drops it regularly with no problems........minor scuffs but thats it.

Sorry to hear about your bike. I have a 2000 blue and silver tank that has a small rock chip on the top by the filler hole and a few zipper scratches. Let me know if your interested.

it's a turn in the shape of a u and where we live it's mostly farm country and the canals are for the farmers to water their crops and land with.

O, up here they call those "hairpins" but they usually only have them where the grade is steep or switching back, too steep for an irrigation ditch, dang that sucks, prolly the only hairpin around with a canal next to it and your bus ends up in it
