Just came back from four days in BFE Idaho again. My cousin, my bro, and a few buddies do it every year. Most of the 190 miles were done in two days (yes, 190 miles on a 4-wheeler) on trails like these;

The area is miles from nowhere...and the scenery is just amazing.

A couple of large forest fires made some of the days a bit smokey..

There are hundreds of old mines scattered all over this area...when you see a sign like this one....ya need to be careful;

Cause under those logs, is a vertical shaft....not sure how deep it was, but a rock took a llooonnnng time to stop!

You just never know when you'll stumble across a cabin or two..this group nestled in a little valley.

This shot was mid point on a 65 mile day...another peak at about 6,800 feet.

The lookout was put into the historic registry in 1996.

Our longest day (80 miles) included 50 miles of single lane gravel roads (serious fun at 40 mph!!) and the remainder on this "trail". It starts out as two track, and ends up being nothing more than a horsetrail. We do this ride every year, and it still raises my pucker factor. This year, I came perilously close to losing my Honda twice. (and I mean losing it...as in, not to be retrieved..)

The pics really do not do reality justice...this section is intense.

The last day was an easy one...about 45 miles total.
We found a new trail...and a mine we hadn't seen before;

Partially caved entrance...not what you'd call real safe to go into..

Nice log cabin in the distance...the outhouse in the foreground..

I'd say this place needs a little work to be livable...whaddaya think??

All in all, one kickazz trip. three of us burned thru about 2,000 rounds of .22's and plenty of other calibers as well. Between all three bikes, we burned a total of 12 gallons of fuel.

Can't wait until next year!

Next year I want to come, but not to invite my self. It seems like every year you post I'm drawn by the photo's. I'll block out some time next year to do the coast to coast thing.

That looks like one great trip. I used to ride my Polaris up around Tellico, but I dont think it could handle it now, to old. Great shots.
